NickHi Attila,
The cURL error is normally related to server level security module settings such as mod_security.
In this case it’s necessary to contact the hosting server admin to ask them to allow connections.
This is also a probable cause for the Google Drive error, both errors would imply server changes.
It’s often the case that after server admin changes users need to reauthorize their Google Drive.
These are my first observations based on the info you provided. A log file could prove helpful.
If you could use a service like PasteBin to include a log file in your reply I can investigate further.
Best regards,
NickHi Eric,
Thank you, I’m very happy to help. Thank you for the video too, it makes things clearer for me.
A log file provides us some information on what could be causing the problems with backups.
You can obtain a log file from your Backup / Restore tab in the UpdraftPlus settings interface.Once you click the View Log button you will be presented an option to download the log file.
You can either copy the info from the pop up box or copy the info from the downloaded log file.
Once you have copied, go to PasteBin.com and paste the info into the ‘New Paste’ blank section.
When you’ve done this scroll down the screen and click ‘Create New Paste’. Copy the browser link.
You can then insert the browser link on this page when you reply to my message and I can view it.
Best regards,
NickHi Steve,
Sorry to hear about the missing pages.
The email notifications (when set) are there to inform you of warnings and errors.
The warnings could mean trouble ahead, the errors tell you if a backup has failed.
I take your point about the subject heading and will feed this back to developers.
As you can appreciate though, the emails are meant to be read; they’re requested.
Could you elaborate on what you mean Files only backup? I don’t understand this.
Normally, with the free plugin, backup sets consist of plugins, themes, uploads, etc.
Best regards,
NickHi Eric,
Could you provide a log file for one of the sites not backing up correctly?
You can use a service like PasteBin.com to include the log file in your reply.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Problems with Plugins BackupHi there,
Did you check the wp_mail_failed as suggested? It may help identify the problem.
When I refer to max size and settings it relates to your email service provider limits.
Normally, this would cause the issue. Max upload size for WordPress is unrelated.
The plugin version would make no difference. You should check on these two items.
Best regards,
NickHi there,
When you click on the backup files buttons you can download them, you should download all the files and you will be able to save them to an external drive. You can indeed upload the files manually if you want to use them on a different host but the files will remain available on Google Drive after you download.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Problems with Plugins BackupHi there,
Thank you, and also thank you for providing the log file.
The log files provides the following info:
0425.424 (0) [Warning] Email: backup_2024-08-06-1929_redacted_d67eed421d68-plugins.zip: This backup archive is 37.5 MB in size – the attempt to send this via email is likely to fail (few email servers allow attachments of this size). If so, you should switch to using a different remote storage method.
0425.424 (0) Email: backup_2024-08-06-1929_redacted_d67eed421d68-plugins.zip: email to: redacted@…
0525.455 (0) An error occurred when sending a backup report email and/or backup file(s) via email (wp_mail_failed): Could not instantiate mail function. You’ve mentioned the settings are configured to receive bigger files than the plugins backup, have you confirmed this recently? I’m just considering the possibility they may have been changed. Do you know what the current size permitted is? Is there an option to test by raising the permitted size further?
You could enable logging to get more specific info on wp_mail_failed. There’s an article here:
https://joshbrown-designs.com/wp_mail-function-not-working-but-everything-looks-right/
Lowering the split archive every setting to 25MB would reduce the size of the plugin backup files. You can do this in Settings >> Expert settings >> Show expert settings >> Split archives every:
Without having tested this I can’t confirm that the two resulting plugin backup files will be sent separately by email but the change to the split archives every setting will do no harm.
As a fallback while the problem is being resolved saving a backup copy on the local server would allow you to download the plugin file. Just uncheck Delete local backup in your Settings.
I hope this info is helpful and assists to identify a solution.
Best regards,

Could you provide us a backup log file using Pastebin or similar?
It will help us to identify any other causes for email backup issues.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] updraftplus failing with PHP 8.2Hi Stephen,
I’m glad things went well. The warnings in the log relate to ModSecurity settings which your hosting can adjust. There’s nothing bad going on, it’s just been configured to monitor for specified phrases.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Dropbox2/API.phpHi there,
The memory limit you’re referring to likely relates to the server, wp-config relates to an installation.
The error message is referencing an allowed memory size of just over 256M, not the 2048M figure.
It’s informing you that it could not allocate the specified amount as allowed memory is exhausted.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Dropbox2/API.phpHi there,
Could you raise the WordPress memory limit in the wp-config.php file by editing/adding this code:
define( ‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘512M’ );
Best regards,
NickHi Caleb,
Thanks, and for your understanding too. We really want to help, it’s just we’re limited to UpdraftPlus.
Well done with the issue. A plugin test (disable and activate one by one) would be my approach too.
Best regards,Nick

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Other Website backups show upHi there,
Most users use the date as a reference for their backups, or organize their backups in folders.
If you would like to save valuable time perhaps you should consider added Premium features?
There are a several ways to perform migration, one of which uses the shared folder approach.

Nick
