For whatever reason, which I don’t completely understand, I had to add the ca-bundle.crt file to my web server. This article is about what I did:

It working in another theme isn’t going to prove the problem is not within your code. The only way to prove that would be for me to know what your code looks like. Like I said, any other text I enter works just fine, so from my perspective, it is just as likely that you’ve done sometime to override what the theme has in place. I’m not going to pay you to describe what you are using. If you don’t want to demonstrate how you display the questions, I guess I won’t use the plugin.

Hmm, can you be more specific how you know it’s not the plugin – because I don’t have any problems on any of my other pages with any text I type in. Can you share what code (css?) you are using to put he test questions into the page/post? What do you mean by too wide css-class rules? If that were the case, wouldn’t all text entered go beyond the edge?

Turns out it was caused by the php temp upload dir:

I have the same configuration on a remote server and cropping is working there. Must have something to do with my local configuration.

I use dropbox. It won’t sync the files I upload. I exited dropbox and uploaded a new file. Same problem. Here is a screenshot of what happens when I browse to the file and try to open it:
