From my investigations, it seems that to get a portfolio with Blask that looks like its demo, you need the Jetpack plugin. I can’t use Jetpack for rebuilding my site {because I’m using Infinityfree for hosting, if that is relevent) so I’m trying an alternative like the “Portfolio” plugin trying to get a similar portfolio back. But with that plugin I don’t see a way to get project title to overlay the image when hovered over, the way it does in the Blask demo. Any suggestions on how to do this without Jetpack?

I had found that post of mine, and thinking it might have been for the same problem I was now having, I made sure Jetpack was working, and I still had the problem. But you have prompted me to look into Jetpack further, and I discovered that I just needed to enable “portfolio” under Writing>Custom Content Types in the Jetpack settings. And that fixed everything! Thank you!

Solved! Activating Jetpack fixed it, thank you!

I think I had deactivated Jetpack because in trying to solve my original problem, after updating it and plugins and WordPress, there were error screens, and deactivating Jetpack fixed it.

The original problem was WordPress and plugins needing updating, it seems.

    Thanks!

I had tried clearing the cache.
I realized that this wasn’t my only problem…although I could get into the admin for the site, there many things it wouldn’t let me do, like view my widgets, and typing text in new posts and pages was oddly invisible. Instead of trying to repair it, I just set up a new wordpress installation in a new directory and imported my content. So I’m ok now. Thanks…
