In reply to: [Recencio Book Reviews] Is there a way of applying a filter to taxonomies?Fair enough!
Your plugin is the current front runner for our organisation to display book reviews… And I totally get needing to do paid work!
??
When you have time, I’d love to chat further about this.

In reply to: [Recencio Book Reviews] Is there a way of applying a filter to taxonomies?Hi ya,
Did you have any thoughts about this? Does it seem vaguely possible? Thanks for that! I think that does what I’m after.
Awesome!
Ah yes. I’ve now added it, and it works much better.
Thanks
Thank you.

In reply to: [Theme Editor] Theme Editor creates folders with wrong permissionsYes. I am hosting it myself.
The folders get created with the wrong permissions.
When I go in and change those permissions, it works as expected.
Is this not behaviour you are seeing?
I’m unaware of settings that I can change to set folder default permissions, but perhaps there is?
I appreciate the dilemma. And of course you have to do what’s best for your time constraints.
But just FYI, many people are turning off Gutenberg because it breaks too much functionality. At least for now.
Anyway, all the best.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Still not ready for prime time. Even at the start of 2021Yes. As far as I can see, none of the plugins that supply buttons in the classic editor (like CiviCRM, TablePress, Ultimate Book Blogger, Recencio Book Reviews) are able to put buttons into the Gutenberg interface. This means they can’t be used in the most efficient manner.
Columns cannot be coloured. The best you can do is colour the blocks in a column which leaves big white borders around each block.
This has been made better since a release around WP 4.9.8. Which is good.
But still, after another attempt to use it for actual work, it falls far short of a professional tool

In reply to: [Recencio Book Reviews] Is there a way of applying a filter to taxonomies?Hmmm… Is there a way of adding this filter in code? So I could create a child version of the relevant plugin template, or a child version of my theme, and apply a filter before hand?
So that particular page would have the filter applied, and everything else would behave as expected?
Excellent question…
For my requirements, having a default able to be set would be enough. if a reviewer wants to then change those, I think I’m fine with it.
If it’s easy enough, then I suspect having it able to be locked unless you are given permissions to change it would be good. Whether permissions are by Role or User, I can’t say what’s best…
Thanks!

In reply to: [Recencio Book Reviews] Is there a way of applying a filter to taxonomies?OK. Cool.
But I can’t select one or more taxonomies to filter by, then show the books by Title/Author etc…
It will only show the books by region, not allow filtering to only show selected regions, then show by Author etc.
I realise this is another level of complexity… But I could imagine something like this would be helpful for filtering by Genre, then showing all the books in the that genre.
Unless I am missing something?
Hi ya,
Yes the theme is definitely doing some odd formatting. Thanks for the CSS!
Hi ya,
I discovered that it was Jetpack (and its comments module) that was interfering so much with the comments section…
So it now does seem to be working as expected.
There are formatting problems, but that’s probably theme related.
