Sorry, please ignore this
Hi ya,
Sorry to leave this so long.
Having to uninstall, then reinstall the plugin EVERY TIME a new subsite is created is not a good solution.
It also makes me VERY nervous that somewhere in that process all the User Registration data will get deleted.
Surely it should be possible to either check and confirm that the user wants those tables created when it detects they don’t exist, or just create them automatically.
At the least, give us a button that does the table creation process for us.
Awesome. THank you
TablePress can import the exact same data without a problem.
So what I’m hearing here is that there’s no way for you to hook a change to user profile fields that may be done by another plugin.
I’m quite surprised that there wouldn’t be a “on change” condition for the profile fields that could be hooked by UM to clear the cache.
I’m not a plug-in developer but it seems quite unreasonable to me for UM to expect any other plugin that does anything with the profile fields to implement your actions.
Other plugins seem to be able to pick up that there has been a change to the profile fields and run their own actions to update where it needs to.
You mention that:
Other plugins updating UM user profile info should include code to clear the UM user profile cache.
I don’t understand that statement. Other plugins would just be updating the user profile fields.
And indeed the user or the admin could change that information in the WP admin pages.
None of them are updating the UM user profile cache. UM is creating the cache. Why would other plugins be responsible for the UM cache?
Lol! Fair! I’ve been there! ??
Um. The CiviCRM WordPress Member Sync plug-in?
That this support section is for?
THank you very much! And thank you for the good documentation.
It’s rare and helpful ??

I exaggerate somewhat. But it’s a consistent facet of my WP experience, and judging by my search results, a fair number of other people as well.
@diondesigns Thanks for the reply.
Interesting. You are the first person I have ever seen say that zlib.outputcompression can break scripts. I am no expert, but I thought it was compressing the HTML that was generated by the PHP before sending to the browser. It’s not compressing the PHP code at all. (??)
I am using Apache in a WHM/CPanel installation. Would that be a directive in the settings I should look for? Presumably called compression or some such…
I have found compression specific settings in WHM, but no switch to turn them on. Looking in the cPanel for the site, there appears to be a Optimize Website section that gives options to compress the content. When I turn them on, and turn off the zlib.compression in the PHP.ini, the headers still report compression as being active.
So it seems thats likely to be it.
I wrote the above out, in case someone else stumbles across this
Cheers
For Jetpack, I simply chose the option to Deactivate it in the Plugins page.
Later, when I activate it, it starts back up looking completely fresh. It has the starting page, the page where it tries to convince me to buy some aspect or other of Jetpack, a number of pages where it asks me which functions I want to turn on.
The ONLY place where it appears to remember information is the WordPress.com account that we use to connect the site to the Jetpack servers.
I think I tried the Health Check and troubleshooting a while ago, and gave up on it completely because it just seemed totally useless. And indeed actively unhelpful.
If it’s been improved into a useful tool, then I may have another look at it.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Bunch of crybabiesIf all you want is a bit of text, an insert a few images (clumsily) then sure. Gutenberg is fine. But the moment you want to do something radical, like, say, change the type of ordered list you are getting from numbers to letters, then you’re out of luck. Just can’t do it.
Classic Editor lets you do it.
Or lets say you want to add an HTML link. Oh look, You have to search for something. That is useful, but how about an actual interface to see the list of pages and posts available to link to. That’s far more efficient most of the time. Oh, and anchors. How about being able to see them as links available in the page you’re working on.
Sorry, but until Gutenberg can supply the ability to add the same formatting and so on that the classic editor can, then it’s a tool that has REMOVED capabilities from our use of WordPress. And that’s NEVER acceptable.

In reply to: [BadgeOS] How does this plugin integrate with WP Multisite?OK. Well, sadly we really need it to work with multisites and have all the information across all the sub sites.
So until that is a feature, I fear this just won’t work for us.
