In reply to: Page Titles in Index PageHooray! Thanks everyone.
The review and tutorial sections are now working fine. I wanted the site to have some more archival, permanent pages, so that it’s not just a blog, where data flys off the page never to be seen again after a few days.

In reply to: Page Titles in Index PageSorry, quite new to wordpress. So I change the depth tag to 1, to only show pages 1 deep? Where do I change that?

In reply to: how do you delete that blogroll?I just removed all the links from the blogroll and then it disappears. And then made my own links section.

In reply to: Page Titles in Index PageI have a similar problem, but I don’t mind if they are in one category. I don’t want child pages to appear, so it’s something like:
About
Contact Us
TutorialsThen under tutorials I have three of four other pages, but I don’t want them to list under tutorials on the sidebar.
Any ideas?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: TrackbackGrrr, thought I had it, did the exact same thing in another post and it all goes screwy. Maybe this just isn’t for me yet…

In reply to: TrackbackGot it, yeah, you use the trackback URL as the link in your text. Then magically, a link to your site appears on the site your linking to. Cheers.

In reply to: TrackbackYes, I get that, there’s a link that is the trackback link, that if you click on it goes no where. But where do I put that link? If I put that in my post then users will go no where. Where do I put it? I use the post URL to link in the text of the post, so where does the trackback URL go?

In reply to: Lost and confusedI take it back, the frame problem was my web forwarding. And although my host doesn’t offer support they were remarkably patient with me and I now have a working site.

Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Lost and confusedI have just received this reply from tech support:
“I’m sorry, but these are questions that need to be directed to the WordPress support forums. We cannot offer detailed support for software being used on the hosting account, including software that we assist in installation with through Fantastico. The referrer issue is definitely not something we can control, it has to do with your local computer, if the documentation provided earlier did not solve the problem, you’ll need to search out additional support from the WordPress team. There is nothing that we can do to change that particular behaviour of WordPress.
In regards to the theme issue, your CSS is not rendering, which is why it doesn’t look like a “WordPress site.” This is also a problem that we’re unable to assist with, though one user reported this problem and solved it by changing the ‘document encoding’ type. I would suggest also taking this to the WordPress forum for diagnosis.”
I sent this in reply:
“I signed up with this hosting because I was unable to install
wordpress myself. I was told that I could be provided with a full
install of word press and now I am not being given that.Matt”

In reply to: Lost and confusedI have no idea what script is being used i’m afraid. As for informing them, they don’t offer support on word press itself, so they won’t help.
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Lost and confusedIt did look ok for a brief period, with a blue banner. But then stopped working. It installs using a script, will this not be ok then? Will I really have to move and will I get my money back?
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Lost and confusedIt’s 1.5, apparently there is an active theme as well.
