    Update: my problem is “resolved”, but…

    • I created a new “test” Post Grid and recreated my settings.
    • When I created a new post grid entry I was presented with different and unchangeable “Pro” settings for pagination. On my existing grid, with the problem, it was locked on “Load more button (by ajax loading)”, which I never used and which I now could not change because it is a “Pro” feature. On the new test entry it defaulted to “Pagination”, which works like it used to.
    • I am not thrilled that it changed on its own, and that I couldn’t fix it without all this troubleshooting and recreating the whole thing.
    • Also irked that I have no idea how long 90% of my content was invisible and unreachable.
    • I got crickets for support here, as well as another issue I brought up quite a while ago.

    Anyhow, in case anyone else finds this while looking for a solution to this problem, try just re-creating an entire New Grid and see if that helps.

    Ok, good talk.

    (Just checked, seems the problem magically resolved itself.)

    Tried clearing every cache I can think of, no good either.

    I’ve also tried to change a few settings in Post Grid to some completely different layout –?and back –?to see if that would overwrite any old glitches, but nothing seems to have any effect on the problem.

    Not really. I found another solution using “The Post Grid” plugin and some added CSS before I got your reply.

    For what it’s worth, I wanted the thumbnails to be the same size in both dimensions. When I was working out my solution, just adding the “height” to the CSS made the image the correct height, but depending on the aspect ratio, the widths were then all over the place.

    This is the CSS I ended up using, which seems to work:

    height:200px;
    width:300px;
    object-fit: cover;

    Given that I don’t really know CSS coding that well, I hope that isn’t too wrong, but if it is correct, then it should also work for your very nice plugin too. Maybe someday I’ll switch back.

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    Hi again,

    I will try to do that to see what happens, but my understanding (which is probably wrong!) is that those changes will add Sizes to the Media Settings in the WordPress site as a whole, right?

    My setup already has other sizes for Media Settings that already do not appear in the Orit Fox Post Grid dropdown list. For example, there is already a “Thumbnail” size, but all I see in that dropdown is “Full size, 1536×1536, and 2048×2048”.

    Apologies if I’m confused or mixing up different things. I also know I just mentioned the image size thing in a different thread – I had been trying to keep the issues separate for future users’ clarity.

    Hi @bvytis,

    Yes, in the week since I posted that question I did “solve” the issue, but only by finding a different way to do what I wanted that didn’t use the Orbit Fox Post Grid.

    I am currently using the plugin “The Post Grid”, which I was able to get to look the way I like with a little CSS.

    Sorry for the confusion – I probably should have come back to this thread to explain. But to try to be useful, the problem still remains: if you want to see the problem, I’ve just now created a temporary page that illustrates what I was talking about:

    https://www.nomadicfrog.com/test-orbit-fox-post-grid/page/3

    I’ll leave that up for a few days.

    In addition to the thumbnail problem I described, I also realized that the Orbit Fox Post Grid was using full-size images for the thumbnails. I couldn’t figure out how to use Thumbnail size images, which meant that a grid of 15 posts would be loading 15 very large jpgs unnecessarily.

    In the Content > Image section there is a dropdown for Image Size, but the only options I have are Full Size, 1536×1536, and 2048×2048.

    Another thing I couldn’t figure out was how to style the Pagination better, so that it was more functional and visible.

    I admit I do not have a great grasp of how all of that works, and either or all problems could be my fault, not sure.

    Thank you for the very quick response!

    I deactivated the Orbit Fox Companion plugin (not sure when it even got installed – I was experimenting with a Themeisle theme at one point) but that completely removed the grid of posts.

    Apparently that was what I was using to display the posts, and I don’t see an alternative way to display them the same way if I deactivate the plugin.

    At least I learned something about how different plugins affect the editing interface.

    I’m not sure about your second suggestion. As far as I can tell my site doesn’t really use that functionality, as it seems to be separate from the Section / Grid of posts construction that I stumbled upon and used. Nothing I change in that Customize section affects the page that I linked in my original post.

    It seems, though, that my next step is probably to go to the support forum for the Orbit Fox Companion plugin and ask there, unless you have another idea?

    Thanks again!

    I guess I should have said “I think the problem started when I did one of those things.”

    It could be that it was there all along and because I was doing so much updating and cleaning up I didn’t notice.

    This is what I see in the WordPress admin editor:

    This is the way it appears on the front end:

    This starter site, for example, has other content:

    Hey that’s awesome, thanks! Works great, and my page looks a lot better just by tightening up that one thing. Really appreciate it.

    Thanks for replying so quickly. I had hoped that the Yelp and Google plugins would look and function the same, but this particular issue isn’t as big a deal as the “more” link question I mentioned in a separate thread.

    (I don’t know how many visitors will care enough to click on a link to go to the review’s source, but visually, the varying lengths of text is immediately visible.)

    Thanks for getting back to me. I understand that by using the free versions, at least to start with, I don’t have much room to ask for changes.

    Some of our Google reviews are long, and since they aren’t truncated, they are visually irregular, and all longer than the Yelp snippets.

    We are aggregating all of our reviews in one page on our site. Between the longer texts, the irregular length of the Google reviews, and the lack of a logo and clickable link, they look pretty incongruous. I’ll see what I can do to mitigate the visual difference on the page.

    Thanks for getting in touch.

    I have set up the site like that, yes. And it works – new posts appear on the Posts page I selected.

    My question, though, is why can’t I do anything else on that page? I can’t add any other blocks at all.

    I can add text and graphics in the editor, but when I view the Published page all I see are the posts themselves (plus the site’s normal header and footer).
