  • I’ve used trademark names for most categories – mini blogs (expandable) – and set up separate Link groups – one for the names and one for the generic name categories. I don’t call the ‘categories’ print at all.
    For a simple single cat, you might just put the link in the template in a ul/li format copied from the template. I added https://buzzage.com this way at the bottom of a grouplink of ‘Growing’ trademark categories in the template this afternoon rather than add it through the admin. Maybe because I added a cat name Techaganda recently and lost the whole link set and had to rebuild, and haven’t figured out my mistake.
    I defer to ‘allusion’ for the best way, as I’m not sure I’ve tried his solution, then I wasn’t looking for a one category tweak … considering a HTML 4.01 image for my site.

    Mt, your site doesn’t exhibit the title errors for
    https://mtdewvirus.com/archives/category/
    that mine is giving. It’s the only page I’ve seen on my installation that does it, and I noticed it on Google results first. Still a problem.

    I disagree about the value of the user sites on the wiki. Many of the wiki platforms -such as php, kwiki, tavi, wakka -all have them and they tend to stay fairly up to date by the wiki tenders. The wiki might also grow to a listing of country/language list on the current WPusers page linking to WPusersUS, WPusersDE, WPusersCA, etc. I see CH has made a Swiss table.
    If you take it down, somebody will mostly likely make it again because they are so ubiquitous.

    My reference to “empty space” was a mistake, so misunderstanding prompted by my post. I have spaces, i.e.,
    .: cat title ::::::
    around the php title call, and misinterpeted in visual results on the index, I believe. It is showing cat title on cat pages, but I thought of putting something in where the ‘nothing’ is on index.php. I’m curious now how the
    <?php wp_title(); ?>
    functions differently than
    <?php single_cat_title() ?>

    Something along the lines of Seablog or Wellblogs, with latest posts might be a good project also. But what I sought this topic out for was to mention a wiki link, like ‘Dev Wiki’ next to ‘Dev Blog’ in the navigation. The wiki is far more useful with more being aware of, and using it.
    Coincidence that “I finally found the WIKI page” was in the last post when I arrived.
    Argh Note: what is it about this forum that causes an impatient couple of clicks to correct a typo to delete several lines of type instead? I think this has happened before in these screens in my few entry attempts. I hope the WP comments form doesn’t have the same trait.
    Anyway, to try and repeat … one of the things that was unencouraging about the Nucleus blog user sites list was that it showed other and migrated platforms, and off topic sites. Showing a list requires a commitment to keep it updated since if neglected, it can suggest people leaving the platform and a lack of ‘dev interest’ by the site operators. A text link in the home page copy to the User sites in the wiki might be a way to simply promote both the sites and the wiki in a few words, and the lists more up to date because of the wiki tending.

    <?php single_cat_title() ?>
    … I just tried in the header, between some tags … piggybacking on header class. Thanks for starting the topic, Fiona. I think I understand your reason for the if/then request, in that when there is no single_cat_title, such as on the index.php, it seems to write a blank space. But why?

    I’ve been playing with creating actual dirs named /archives/ and /category/ and the rewrite will not allow .html type pages under the category/ dir, but will under the /archives/ dir, i.e., /archives/xx.html can be browsed, but the WP hides the xx.html under category/ – this is all when the dirs actually created, and not virtual mod rewrite. I wonder why the difference.
    I’m hunting around for info regarding other dir names than “archives” and “directory”. Are these categories required by the php code as written, and difficult to amend? For instance, /pets/cats/ instead, for an example.
    My vitrual /category/ level is cranky – no post match “criteria” and the title of the page at
    https://nommune.com/archives/category/
    is:
    <title>nommune<div id=’error’>
    SQL/DB Error:
    [<span style=’color: #007;’>You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ” at line 1</span>]
    SELECT * FROM wp_posts WHERE ID =
    </div> » </title>
    Anyone else?

    It’s a little wide for 800, but worth the look. Problems solved? One entry seems to indicate sooooooooooooooo.
