Just to follow up, it’s Jetpack. We recently installed Jetpack and it’s not working properly.. or at least, it’s causing the media & text blocks to stack. When we deactivated Jetpack, the media & text block works again. Any ideas why this may be happening? Thanks!

Hi Lisa, that is very concerning. And yes, I’ve checked other browsers as well as incognito chrome (therefore not logged into WP), and in fact, the media & text block is not working correctly, AT ALL! It is working when I’m logged into WP. Any idea why this might be?

Sorry for the delay. I haven’t had to upload a plug-in before. Can I assume I simply click the “code” button, download the zip (PublishPress-Authors-Newspaper-Child-master.zip) and upload it to WP as a new plug-in? If so, I’ve done that, and after I hit “install now,” nothing happens. The new plug-in isn’t reflected in the list, and the authors still don’t appear on the site. Let me know?

Ok thanks. In the meantime, the plug-in doesn’t seem to work with my Newspaper/TagDiv theme. In the editor, it shows two authors, but they aren’t displayed on the page. Any ideas?

Hi! Just to f/u, I tried this and it doesn’t work. When I pop in the second “single post author,” in tagdiv, it just pulls the first author, even though in the editor there are now two authors. Any ideas? Thank you!

Thanks, Stefan! All is working now. The problem, I think, is that we had installed an SMTP WP plug-in. Once we removed it, everything worked fine.

As for google search, so I’ve spoken with Weglot, and they essentially aren’t taking responsibility. Instead they said it’s a caching problem. I purged the cache via siteground.. do you think this could be the case? I don’t see how that would effect broken meta-tags? Also, they haven’t responded about being able to control whether the site can first load in English, and then have the user select the language drop-down, if preferred. Do you think we should remove Weglot from the site altogether to avoid these issues?

To further the canonical issues, I also noticed Google was choosing another site I own, which I was redirecting to rareparenting.com, as the canonical site. I stopped the forwarding of that site to rareparenting, and requested a review from google. This may be a naive question, but, is it bad practice to redirect sites to other sites? Essentially I bought a domain that is similarly named, and redirected it. I’ve seen other sites do this, but maybe google red flags this, or in some cases like mine, chooses the wrong site as the authority site?

Everything else via that google link you sent me seems fine.
