Yes, it works with PHP 5.5 as well as with PHP 4.4. And also together with the plugin wp super cache it works.
I myself use it with PHP 5.5 and wp super cache on a multisite. ??

I have the problem now solved for me, where I have the plugin now enabled for each individual site, rather than to enable network-wide. The bug thus only occurs when the plugin is enabled network-wide.
I have just found out that on the main website of the multisite everything works fine. Only the sub-sites are affected.
