Thanks for the detailed reply, not quite what I was expecting tbh, i figured there would be simply plugin. What you are showing me is probably a touch beyond my understanding. I have inserted this code into the functions.php and it looks fine, however, it errrors, i suspect as my data fields dont match up. Perhaps you could just show me an example of how to match the datafields up, so I can hopefully get this done.

I installed the plugin. The Custom Fields box has now vanished completely. Its no longer in Screen Options either.

No, I am not using that plugin. I have tried deactivating all plugins, no change, so I guess its safe to assume its not the plugin.

There are no obvious error messages. I add a new field, I add the value, it shows in the admin area. Then, I hit publish, the screen freshes and the field and value are gone again, literally, it doesn’t save.

I have previously used these custom fields on other posts on the site, these remain working, but I am unable to edit them, no changes will save.

I am runnning the Total Theme for WordPress, I have many installations of this theme, custom fields on other installs appear unaffected.

Not sure what other info I can provide?

Usually with these sorts of errors, its a known bug and usually an easy fix, but I can’t find anything for this. Running the latest verison of WP and all plugins and themes are up to date.

Loads of other plugins, but nothing new, as in, this problem has occurred with no new plugins, I have used this method before on the site without issue.

You can see the site if you want, but the issue is not on the front facing site, it in the Contact form 7 panel in admin. When I save the form, it clears all the content ive just added and saves itself blank! This only occurs when I add html, if I just use the standard CF7 shortcode it saves fine.

Really weird issue.

No change when I switch the plugins off, but when I revert to a wordpress theme the problem cures.

I am using the Total theme, oddly I use this theme alot and have not had the issue on other sites, just this one.
