This exact same issue happens to me as well. It does not occur consistently so it may be difficult to recreate and fix. I am using Firefox and this theme.

It might be an issue with jQuery rather than a plugin problem. Or it could be a browser issue. I only see this problem in Firefox. Works fine in Chrome.

I had this same issue and for me it was a great plugin called WP-AlertBox (https://boycallaars.wordpress.com/wordpress-plugin-wp-alertbox). Once I deactivated the plugin my drop downs worked correctly again.
