You may not see the .maintenance using the ftp in windows explorer. You may have to either use some ftp tool or if your host supports ftp over web to see the file. Just delete it.

The above solution solved the problem. But I am having another problem which is, in WordPress admin I see there are two pending unapproved comments as a red bullet with 2 but when I click on it, Disqus says there are no new comments…. What could be the problem?? Please help

Thank you for the response. I had done all that but of no help.
I have finally got wordpress installed by a work around.

1. I renamed Plugins and Themes folders.
2. Then Installed wordpress successfully.
3. Renamed changed folders back to original names.
4. All worked fine.

I am facing the same issue.

Before I was getting this error
WordPress database error Table ‘.wp_options’ doesn’t exist for query INSERT INTO wp_options (option_name, option_value, autoload) VALUES (‘cron’,……

and ever since I applied the fix of updating the update.php, I am getting the blank page 2 while installing. I am not sure what is to be done. I don’t think it has generated the login user so cannot login.

Please suggest what could be the problem? Why there is a blank page 2 screen while installing.

I have tried multiple number of times but in vain.

Any help would be highly appreciated.
