I am not sure how to get where I need to go–I went to “customize” and scrolled down to “additional css”and then I am not sure what to do..
    or I can go to –customize–“sidebar” and then there is two places–one says “background color: and then below it says “Padding” and it says 0 (top) —0 (right)—0 ( bottom ) 80 (“left”}
Then one goes down and it says “widgets”–background color– then padding and that one says 0 right across the list- 0 for top- 0 for right–0 for left and 0–for bottom. I am thinking that the top menu that has 0-0-0-80 is possibly the one I need but am not sure..
    Sorry I am a newbie…
    thanks

I apologize, I never thought of “twitty” people using a spam domain name to cause problems..
I guess when you don’t think like “snakey” people, you don’t expect other people to act in weird manners either..
I had never heard of “bot registration” like –why? what is the reasoning behind it? I guess if you are trying to use bots to influence SEO then I could see someone doing that, but I admit the thought never crossed my mind.. Thanks for the input, sill take a look at what can be done to weed out garbage..

    Hello
A friend who knows web design came and took a look at things and noticed that there was an error that said “SSL certificate error.” I spoke to Hostgator and they went in and did some work on the files and the pages are now back up and operating. I still have to do a restore to get my sidebars back, and will have to do a restore back alittle bit further, so there is no errors from a bad restore.
The final word from hostgator was that something crashed when I was moving the plugins around, but I knew that anyways.. And the plugin that I put on the site was supposed to be compatible…

    Hello, I am back..
the contact 7 started working fine and showing the form instead of the short code, However, today when I went to look at the site, it was all scrambled, like –serious–
I talked to a lady at Hostgator and she suggested deactivating contact 7 which I did. Immediately my website was back and normal..
I am wondering if maybe an update to the ocean theme caused contact 7 not be compatible anymore.
    Any thoughts??

Well I do not know what happened, it just started working, but last night and this morning it was only showing the short code on the front end not the form.. weird..

A friend tried to put the css in the c-panel, and it wouldn’t work..( she knows a lot more than I do..)so we deleted it out of cpanel because it didn’t work.
Can I highlight the menu area and right click in chrome and “inspect” and put the css in that way? I know when you highlight something on the web page and click “inspect” it brings up the area you clicked on to inspect and highlights the css of the area.
In chrome when one is in “inspect” there are 2 boxes, if one can put the css in that way, ( don’t know if you can or not) which box would you put it in?
    thanks

I am not real good with css, “just getting my feet wet” so to speak. Can one use pagebuilder to high light the menu and add css there?

    well the story continues..
I went to hostgator and was talking to their support, and the lady went through a bunch of stuff, and she said that a bunch of directory files were missing… Now how that happened I do not know, as I do not even know how to access that, she said that wordpress had to be re-installed and core files replaced.. Just as we were about to do something, our connection crashed and she disappeared. I re signed into the chat and got someone else who took a good look and said the same thing that directory files were missing, and I needed a wordpress re-install. he put out a link showing what was directory files were missing and as I was trying to access the site, I lost the connection with this support help person.
I re-signed in to support chat, and got someone else and he said something different that I needed a web designer.. he said re-installing would not work an restoring wouldn’t work. He said there were code scripting errors.. and once again I was told the only files they had access were the april 15 files with I know are defective.
I went to the c-panel–file manager and took a brief look, and for some reason I couldn’t find my back up files.. It was quite late, and I have been fighting a bug so under the weather. I will try again to find the back up files for the website…
I asked if the plugin was the reason the site crashed is “locked up” and wont work or if someone tinkered with things. he said –quote—“‘That is per my support, it is a code scripting error that was change”
somehow something was changed, and I sure don’t know how to tinker with things.
So what is the opinion out there?? I don’t know anything about re-installing wordpress, but it sounds less daunting than some code scripting error ” and lots of directory files missing”
Which opinion do you think is correct–I need a word press re-install, or some designer to go through lines of code?
    thanks for your opinions

I tried to download a social media plugin and got this message–twice–
cURL error 77: Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)

I tried to open up appearance–customize and got this message–
Warning: require_once(/home3/nitehawk/public_html/wp-includes/customize/class-wp-customize-filter-setting.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home3/nitehawk/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-customize-setting.php on line 938

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/home3/nitehawk/public_html/wp-includes/customize/class-wp-customize-filter-setting.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/php56/lib/php’) in /home3/nitehawk/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-customize-setting.php on line 938

I tried to open the sidebars and they were froze up. .wont open
I deactivated the independent sidebars and the footers and the old sidebars will no open either..

I almost never check the siteorigin css program and I opened it up and is does not appear to work..
Any thoughts? can there be a virus?

    Thread Starter nitehawk

    (@nitehawk)

I have a question– can a website have malware or a virus?
I have done basically no tinkering on the website since it was restored, and all sorts of weird things are happening..or not happening..

was checking the ads-wp site count, and it says not designed for multipage sites..
Does that mean because I have have more than one page on my website it either won’t work or I would have to put it on each page individually?
    thanks..
