In reply to: Blog cannot be found in google blog search and image searchYoast’s article is indeed a great start.
My experience is that the Google XML sitemaps is a great WordPress plugin for letting Google know your site / blog exists.
After that, install Yoast’s SEO plugin or the All in One SEO Pack plugin.

In reply to: WordPress Dashboard vs. CMSSome of the CMS based themes have some more options. For example, for my blog I use a Woothemes theme. It has some extra functionalities where I should normaly install some extra plugins for.
If you’re comfortable with the dashboard, there’s no need for a change, just keep your theme and install some extra plugins.
If you want to know which plugins are interesting, I wrote an article about my favourite WordPress plugins.

In reply to: WordPress Dashboard vs. CMSWhen you create websites for clients, the WordPress Dashboard can be confusing for them. That’s why I allways install the CMS plugin by Trendwerk. This plugin removes all the info in the dasbhoard and you can put your own info there.
If you uses WordPress as a blog or website for yourself, then you don’t really have to do this.Forum: Themes and Templates
