My apologies, this was not intended to happen. You sound like you assume this was done on purpose. That was obviously not the case.

You could have contacted me and asked about it and for a refund, but apparently it’s more important to you to leave a negative review because of a mistake.

“Needless to say”, I disagree it could have been the case that you after 4 years still use ARVE Pro and are happy with the plugin and want to receive all the updates and/or support the work I do on it. So it was needed for you to say, and I am assuming you do not use ARVE Pro anymore? Or are you cancelling because you did not receive emails about the subscription you signed up for each year?

I think I found a misconfiguration. My site was supposed to send renewal notice emails that will inform subscribers 1 week before the subscription is about to renew, so they have time to cancel if they so choose before they get charged again. Apparently this was not happening in for your account. Again, my apologies, but this could have been handled in a much nicer way on your end.

Wow! I have been running this plugin for years and I have never seen someone that upset about a message the appears ONE single time!

All you would have to do it close the message, and it will never show up again.

I wish I could make people like you see it from the other side. It’s crazy how entitled some people feel for great software, then get totally for free, and they freak out like crazy when they see an up-sell ad that actually supports it. Like, really, how does it offend you so much that you have to click an X once?

I maintain and give free support for this plugin, I do not know how effective that ad is, but I like to think it’s given me a few sales that I need and deserve! Because more than 99% of people do not have a pro subscription. I actually just did the math, the plugin is installed on over 40k sites and I do not have 1% of that as pro subscribers.

It’s awful enough that people just take free software for granted and never give back anything, and I honestly was in that crowd before I became a developer of open source myself. But the others at least just click the X and not complain. But there are a hell of a lot of awfully ungrateful people out there. The difference between them and you is, they are ungrateful in silence. To go out of your way and leave a negative review because I am trying my best to be able to maintain this plugin is really uncalled-for.

I love how you put features in quotes like they are not real or not worth paying for. They absolutely are. But thanks for the spell check, I guess.

And you tagged your “review” with “abuse” ?? that is funny. I am watched a few Soft White Underbelly videos in the recent days. I am glad I am the type of “abuser” who dares to show ads in his software, rather than the other type, the real ones you know.

And to the others reading this, don’t be that guy! I have to think about maybe reducing the text a little, never want so see anything like this again. I am not sure if it really matters how big it is, 99%+ people close it right away anyway, so does it really matter how much text is in there? Honest question.

I actually have some understanding, but nothing like that I would justify this kind of reaction. I know dashboard messages and ads in WP can get annoying but, again, try to see it from the other side.

Furthermore, I know WordPress devs are planning and working on the?WP Feature Notifications?(formerly WP Notify) project that will address and manage Dashboard notifications better and give developers an API to register messages, and they will not pile up and clutter up your Dashboard that much from what I can tell. Last change on Github was 4 months ago, so it’s looks like it’s not moving that fast, but when this lands in WP developers like me can use this new API. But do get your hopes up that all the plugins will instantly have better messages once this comes out, but at least for ARVE I will make sure I will use this new API when it comes out.

This plugin does not feature any “import of videos”, so no.

Sorry no this plugin is for embedding single videos or playlists. I am not sure what you are looking for exactly. But like creating a new post for every video on a channel with that video. Or like adding all videos from a channel to a post is currently not possible.

This notice should get never show up again when you dismiss it. Maybe I can add a checkbox to the settings for it as well as I think there were some very rate cases of people having issues with it.

It may be some browser extension, some other plugin or something interfering with the AJAX process that dismisses the notice.

Asked Yoast about that? ARVE includes its own SEO data that you can manually enter if you buy ARVE to get data entered automatically. Just so you know, you do not need an additional SEO plugin for the Video SEO data.

See the FAQ explaining how you can enter the data needed. It basically works the same for the Block, there you can select an image so it make the thumbnail part even easier.

The main features or ARVE Pro is not even SEO, yet ARVE pro is much cheaper than Yoast Video SEO that coasts 79 euro for a single site!

Is this breaking the entire Yoast SEO plugin? Or just related to Video SEO data? Do you use classic Editor or Gutenberg? Please file a support request here and give the information asked.

Just want to clarify that they fixed the folder structure issue I was talking about in my review. But as intuitive and observant as I was. I actually did the right thing, I went straight to GitHub because I expected this was a bug because it was when I updated from 2.x to 3.x. Only to get dismissed by their CEO and lead maintainer (I think) Chris something. He claimed he looked at a diff and there was no change when it comes to that issue. Basically not taking me seriously at all. And then send to their extremely unuseful support that basically told me “tough luck” basically something evasive about that they do not support that.

After all that I went back to Github and said that and he looked at it again and saw that I was right all along and it was in fact something that they broke in 3.x. This is a typical response from companies, they default to not believing you … I am just a WP dev myself, but who cares.

And there was another issue with a database migration that I have. I have this non dismiss-able message on polluting my admin screen for months. I was told after my report that it seems that my DB migration/update went correctly but I still see this message this is a bug that they will fix in the recurring or SL extension update. So far they have not fixed it.

Easy Digital Downloads needs to complete a database upgrade that was previously started, click?here?to resume the upgrade.

this pollutes my admin for months.

Oh while I am at it. This extension still uses jQuery on the frontend and WP unfortunately loads it on the head by default. Seriously its 2023 and nobody uses stupid outdated and slow jQuery code. I seen someone working for them said it was “her dream” to get rid of jQuery but – nothing. I get that this is a very complex and huge plugin. (Not as lightweight and simple as they claim). I get there are probably lots of other important issues but still you should at some point modernize your code. Its past time!

Also their buying process is weird, it seems that purchase buttons need all kinds of JS and stuff, and when you click them a spinner is shown and something is processed b4 they send you to checkout. Why is all this?

They load their global checkout script, that requires jQuery in head as I mention on all pages (or at least with purchase buttons). This is so bad for performance!

I saw a video of Woocommerce (actually by chance looking at something completely different) that explained that all you need is a url parameter of the product ID on a link to make a purchase happen. EDD does not seem to work this way, at least not by default.

I also have spend countless hours to code some custom js that basically bends transforms the buttons from EDD to make them look like I like a show the price like I want and the savings.

And I am not done, having the same purchase button on a page multiple times causes invalid HTML (works anyway) because they get the same #id

I do not understand what you are doing and saying. I do not have these options you speak off. Do you mean they will be implemented in the next version?

And why would you do it that way? I showed you how to do it without any options automatically. Having it as an option that you manually have to select the pages where the script loads makes no sense if you can just have the shortcodes automatically load them.

I can not reproduce any issue with the current versions of ARVE, Genesis and Genesis Sample Theme. Open up a Support ticket on my site if you need help and fill out the information needed for me to investigate. I will not respond to this topic anymore.

@alanfuller what you called “Meta Box” is actually the dialog from ARVE to help create a shortcodes. That is not a meta box, that is a modal, dialog popup, whatever you want to call it, but a meta box in WP is where you edit posts metadata in. That was very confusing to me.

I assume you run a browser that does not support <dialog> I just rolled out an update that should hide it and display a message instead. Please let me know what 9.9.3 does for you.

Please open a support ticket on Support and fill in the information in the form, like debug info … please also include a screenshot.

What meta box? What is the content of the meta box? From what plugin is the meta box? What browser version. I am aware of in issue that outdated browser will show the content of the shortcode dialog as soon as the page loads. I will work in a fix for that as soon as I send this. But that has nothing do with meta boxes, you did not provide enough information for me to work with.

Yes, like this, pretty straight forward. But keep in mind that autoplay does not work in many modern browsers, mobiles ALL disable it. Even for desktop browsers, people can disable it.
