Thanks for your response. I actually email my hosting provider with the query also and they came up with a less complicated answer so i said I would try it first and it worked!!
Basically as it was a new installation of wordpress and I had nothing to lose content wise they said reinstall wordpress to that domain and during installation leave the “directory folder” as blank and not “wp” this time.
Basically the problem was I installed it in a new folder called ‘wp’ not knowing what I was doing.
All good questioned answered here.
