Just noticed Julien that saving a draft – reloads the page with the suggest override image – which when published then makes it to Facebook.

Forgot to mention – just in case – I’m using the Divi theme by Elegantthemes – my apologies if this would have an effect.

So – I’ve not been back to the validator – but clearly the suggested image is being used. Perhaps the validator is broken – wouldn’t be the first time!

Ah – you mean you only see vids for the new interface (affecting all variants of the plugin) if you go pro? Sheesh

Thanks for that Croydonweb – I’ve checked the support forum – lot of people are finding this confusing. Personally I see a lot of difference between ‘Meta Description Field’ – which fits W3C and other protocols and has actual meaning in a web development environment and ‘snippet’ – which means diddly squat in the same venues. Not surprised therefore that many people are confused when such a major component of their edit mechanism has disappeared or become amalgamated into some other feature

Puzzled – so now Meta description field as was is a snippet field? Not to beat about the bush here – but a snippet and a meta field do not sound or mean the same thing in web development circles

No problem at all – thanks for a great plugin. You make a great point – one I had in mind but didn’t state. SO – lets make it clear, testing stuff, adding value when its needed – software around the world has been built and released on this model from way back when Comander Keen first came out – and led to the massive spread that Doom became. We’ve seen it in shareware, freeware, trialware and its happily enshrined in our culture. Id’ rather pay extra for the bits I need, than pay an overly large amount for the 60% I’ll never use.

    keep at it!

Overly harsh and factually incorrect – the free version of the plugin can and does post to a number of timeline and blog formats. If you want business level connectivity – pay up. SNAP charge three times as much for their plugin, the price is reasonable

Stinks so much you gave it 5 stars…

    Hi folks,
second attempt at typing this! Bah!
I read Mamaestes post with interest because we have had similar issues. We’ve been running a WPMU setup for several years and upgraded it directly to WP3.0 and WP3.1.

We noticed after a while (mainly because we don’t touch the ‘top level’ blog much) that the platform isn’t behaving correctly where the main blog is concerned.

    Two things,

    a) like mamaestes (but perhaps not the same) our plugins page for the first blog doesn’t load when you hit the ‘plugins’ link in the LSH nav menu. Instead you get the ‘edit plugin’ page for whatever the first activated plugin happens to be.

    b) Menus disappears completely from the LHS Nav.

For all other blogs hosted – these are present and correctly direct you to
/plugins.php and /menu.php respectively. We can still put these in by hand on the first blog- but its a bit of a pain, and worse – some plugins just don’t work correctly

Happily (kind of…) one of the plugins helped shed some light I believe, in as much as it complained about blog ID 1. AFAIK in WPMU the prima blog had ID0, so I’m going to make a leap and say perhaps its still ID0 post-upgrade -= instead of the newer idea of your prime network blog being ID1 under WP3.x

    Would that be likely Andrea?
If so – the only thing we can think to do Andrea is either
    a) carry on limping or
    b) create a brand new install and manually export and import the content (and all the plugins, people and so on *groan*) in the hope that the new copy would employ expected Blog ID’s.

Or… well, once again Flabber=Gasted, so any light you might shed much appreciated.

    best

Thanks Andrea for the hint, I have done a basic cut and paste of the virginal wp_options value for wp_user_roles, all the roles are now back in.

Odd prob though, think it has to have been the plugin overwriting the values, but why?

    Odds Bodkins eh!

    Cheers all

Yoiks, the proper content from a virginal wp_options is (and I think we have the nub of the crux of the fiddly bit of the matter:

Gonna try replacing one with the other ??

    Thread Starter nibb

    (@nibb)

Well, not sure if its a related issue, but I hadn’t thought of looking in the wp_x_options! lookee see what I found:

    a:1:{s:11:”wiki_editor”;a:2:{s:4:”name”;s:11:”Wiki Editor”;s:12:”capabilities”;a:7:{s:4:”read”;b:1;s:10:”edit_posts”;b:1;s:17:”edit_others_posts”;b:1;s:20:”edit_published_posts”;b:1;s:9:”edit_wiki”;b:1;s:10:”edit_pages”;b:1;s:9:”edit_post”;b:1;}}}

Which could be conflicting with or even overwriting default roles potentially I guess.

Thanks Andrea, flabber tired rather than gasted this time ?? Will see what else I can find with a prod and a poke and a vicious mysql drop command
