In reply to: [Hueman] hueman theme https connection not secure messageHi bdbrown and many thanks for your response, it certainly put me on the right track. First off, let me aplogise to the theme creators for suggesting the issue was with hueman theme. As you pointed out it was aweber. (and one other)
Here’s what I did to resolve the issue
I first went to Aweber and saw that:
—-
Does AWeber Support HTTPS/SSL Sign Up Forms?
April 21, 2015 00:32Yes, AWeber sign up forms fully support HTTPS/SSL submissions. If your site is HTTPS/SSL, publishing AWeber sign up forms to the site would not adversely effect the security of the site. If your website is not HTTPS/SSL, you can still publish AWeber sign up forms to your site without issues.
—-Great! I replaced the updated java script form from aweber — but still had an insecure site.
As it turns out the issue was with the content in the sidebars (which didn’t publish in 2015 theme).
1. I went into hueman settings and selected full page (no sidebars) as global.
2. The website immediately was shown as secure.
3. I added one side bar — still secure.
4. Added 2nd sidebar — now insecure.
5. I moved all widgets from sidebar to inactive — site secure.
6. I added one after another until I got the insecure message again.There was also another widget with an insecure image that I have now removed from the sidebar — site secure.
I put the aweber widget back in and the site was insecure again!
After much googling and checking aweber FAQs there was no result. I even tried installing the WordPress plugin. No luck.
After 3 hours of frustrating searching and trial and error I decided to try the Aweber Raw HTML Snippet (Advanced Design Customization) rather than the Javascript Snippet (The Quick and Easy Version). The javascript is easier to use as you update the design in Aweber and it auto updates on the site.
RESOLVED: Once I replaced the Aweber javascript with the Raw HTML Snippet, the site was giving no more mixed content errors due to aweber.
Thanks again for your help!

In reply to: [Hueman] Footer no longer displaying html javascriptThanks for that but I’m not a coder so it doesn’t really make a lot of sense to me. I will assume it was changed because it was a security issue. I’m still not sure why I can add it in some parts of a theme and not others. Why it was OK one day and then not the next?
Can you advise with that code adjustment, is my site at risk? Should I revert back to the original code?

In reply to: [Hueman] custom cssHi Stephen thanks for getting back. I have installed hueman theme via the wordpress repository and also activated the child theme as available from the hueman site .. alxmedia.se
I am installing a plugin forum called WP Symposium pro. What I am trying to change is the forum page to submit a post. Using Firebug it appears to be picking up the css from the theme and gives me this:
.entry pre {
background: url(“img/pre.png”) repeat scroll center top rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);
border: 1px solid #ddd;
line-height: 19px;
margin: 30px 0;
overflow-x: auto;
overflow-y: hidden;
padding: 18px 20px;
white-space: pre-wrap;
word-wrap: break-word;
}
.entry code, .entry pre {
font-family: Monaco,”Courier New”,”DejaVu Sans Mono”,”Bitstream Vera Sans Mono”,monospace;
font-size: 11px;
}When I try to make adjustments nothing changes, but when I use the similar code from another theme it does change.
(unfortunately I’m not strong on CSS and I feel like I’m chasing my tail in circles…)
Thanks for your help

In reply to: [Hueman] A Great Theme , butHi Again Mike,
First off to the Mods.. I hope I haven’t started a thread that contravenes WP etiquette. Almost every forum I visit has different rules and etiquette. If so, it wasn’t my intention and I apologize to the forum Mods (Andrew)
If I may be more clear:
I understand that Hueman theme(s) are both free. One is at the WP Repository and the other is a web site as a free download, giving two variations of the theme — both are absolutely free — as in free beer. (Thank you Alexander)
I do understand that the Website theme, hereby referred to as the Fremium Theme, has added functionality, such as shortcodes.
However by not being in the repository the Hueman Fremium Theme forgoes the Admin Panel One Click Updates. This facility — for me — is an absolute Priority #1 with no exceptions.
(As such I had started to re-do the theme with Tempera, but I’ve put that on hold for the time being, and will be returning to the WP Repository version of Hueman theme.)
The Repository theme, allows for One Click updates from the WP admin panel, but forgoes the added functionality included in the Freemium theme.
Note: The auto update is done by a plugin, not the theme itself.
With Auto Updating, I can create a self maintaining site for anyone.
For those interested, I use the plugin Advanced Automatic Updates by pento to keep all my website(s)updated. The plugin can be configured to Update WordPress core and/or Plugins and/or Themes. And as far as I am aware, it has never broken one of my sites, but has literally saved me hundreds of hours of tedious updating.
So, my intention is to uninstall the Fremium theme and reinstall the WP Repository theme and use Shortcodes Ultimate for added shortcode functionality.
On another note, which is a workaround rather than a resolved…
The CF7 issue of the fields sprawling across the middle column has been resolved by using a column (1/4) with the shortcode provided by Shortcodes Ultimate. (I also experimented with a table but the table interferes with the size of the fonts.) The only (very) minor issue is that the “Send” button is full width of the column as well.. (full width on mobile.
thanks for listening to my rambling thoughts, D

In reply to: [Hueman] A Great Theme , but@ Beefstick and Karsten007, thank you for your advice and assistance. I’ll look to do that.
@ Mike Orange, thank you for that info. No I didn’t know that Alexander was the founder of wpbandit.com and had since left to move onward and upward. The links you provided were interesting reading.As I said earlier, I prefer to deal with theme creators who provide their themes free as I have found, generally speaking they do it as an act of love. Many paid themes are not supported quite so well. That’s just my opinion tho. I’m sure there are theme companies that keep updating and upgrading their themes.
However I’m a little surprised that Hueman is a free wordpress and also has a “premium” theme that is also free from the website. First time I’ve come across it.
This is a good thing and a not so good thing. I am guessing this is being done to get around wordpress’ decree on what can and can’t be included in a theme.
But in doing this the huge advantage of one click updates is lost. (and automatic updates)
And I’m seeing more and more themes coming into the wordpress repository which are crippled lite themes with the option to purchase the “premium” theme and options splattered all through the admin panel.
(Some might say, “so what do you want for nothing?” And you’d be right!)I’d like to thank Alexander for providing such a great theme for free, and also thank the supporters who also assist him on these and other forums.
Again, I’m more than happy to pay a donation for support as well, rather than buy the theme upfront, as Ive done with 2 Cryout themes – Mantra and Tempera.)
(I’d still like to know why CF7 is a recommended plugin when it doesn’t play well with the theme.)
And I still have to decide if I go with the free premium theme that doesn’t have the Admin panel updates or stay with the wordpress version which, I’m assuming will still be updated to stay WP compliant when required. I am currently checking out the Hueman Premium (download) theme…
Thanks all for you input!
Dave
Thanks for a useful plugin, here’s my 2cents of suggestions.
Create two more widgets that allow:
1. Display widget ads randomly
2. Display widget ads sequentially&/or add shortcode to a text box.
1.
<widadsrnd>
2.<widadsseq>
The other suggestion would be to have 1 widget with a drop down menu that allows the choice of ads to be displayed from 1 – 10 and include rnd and seq. (So that there is less space taken in the widget area.)
