Richard..what is a post slug, I still haven’t figured out how to use it. I am finding the wp courses they have on here still use language that only programmers would know. I need WP for Dummies..

I installed subscribe2, activated it but can’t get it to work. I created a page called subscribe and inserted the subscribe code. If I clik on the link from my front page now I just get a page that has the <!–subscribe2–> on it.
What is this thing about post slug..what would i type in the box?
Strange thing is, when i just posted a new discussion i received an email saying I had subscribed and the email was set up like an update email. So that part seems to work.

Ok, never mind all, think I should do the sensible thing and go to “wordpress for beginners” and just learn css and all that. guess I just wanted the lazy way out. Iwas so used to just copying and pasting dhtml to use with my knowledge of html that I figured this would be sort of like that..I am a poop. L

I wish someone would write instructions that are for the novice not the expert. I downloaded email notification and the install is so complicated..put these files here and then these ones there..argh..then language I don’t uderstand but I am trying to learn.

I am having the same problem with “contact” plugin.
I read all about creating pages but I still feel I have to wing it with what little I know. I find the directions in wordpress a little daunting. sigh..I guess all these programs are only designed for people who are IT specialists or have taught themselves the language of php’s and codex. Cripes I probably got that wrong too.
Does anyone know of a program for people to subscribe and fill forms to get updated in their emails? Can I use an email program not designed for WP?
Sorry to sound ornery guys but i have a bad neck and this is killing me but I can’t stop…help…lol

I find after a day on here using WP, the wait time for pages and programs is beyond belief. when i close something, it starts from the top and slowly folds downwards..at other times, everything hangs for an incredibla amount of time and i have gotten notice of low memory even when all is closed down..should i do the above as suggested in another post? what causes the ram overload?

yes I know..That’s the way it was when i chose that theme..at least it has looked that way for awhile, and I actually like it that way.

Vkaryl, I’ll look into that. Isn’t it ok the way it is? I hate fooling and validation errors..well, I am not concerned with those because I dont know how to fix em. The report highlights the error but doesn’t tell you what to change it to.

Ha, I have been noticing that while working in WP my system is hanging and slower than usual..(slow anyway). So If I disable cache that should work?

Andrea thanks, i read that info and it helps. It seems that most of that stuff ie:archives..is in the sidebar already.
Moshu thanks for that also..I think I will just change it to an html page…I wonder if I can change it to a page in WP so that I can still use the theme design on that page..hhmm
