Glenn,
Thanks for the update. I really like the geolocation addition. Unfortunately, the driving directions are still a little bit wonky.
They do pull up the address, however if you click on the marker it will give you an error saying the address doesn’t exist or it will just give you a general listing of the street without the address information.
I think it has to do with how you are formatting the location when you pass it over to Google for the driving directions
You can view the issue here: https://www.google.com/maps?saddr=Holiday,+FL,+34691&daddr=28.2761181,-82.7203323(8206+U.S.+19+Port+Richey+FL+34668+US)&t=m&z=12&geocode=FY4crgEdp34R-ynHNlPz5I3CiDEMq_xM6UGuxA%3BFZZ1rwEdtMkR-w
Perhaps adding an option to disable the lat/long output in the driving directions would be a good idea. Some addresses may need it but for well-known locations they are probably not necessary.
Anyway, Kudos on a really nice plugin. We tested like 10 of them yesterday and yours is the only one that actually works.
I’m also having this problem. Seems like it would be pretty critical for a mapping plugin to actually be able to map out directions…
The ability to disable everything on all but selected pages/posts is really important, especially when dealing with sites that other people are going to have access to. If someone who isn’t very tech savvy sees some huge map interface on every page they will flip out and get totally confused. Then I start getting phone calls. I hate phone calls.
I’m pretty sure that it can be hidden using Display Options, but even when I do that I’ve had plenty of people un-hide things and then proceed to freak out… don’t ask me why, people are insane.
Thanks for the quick response. It would be really awesome if you could implement those changes because overall your plugin is the best out of all the ones I’ve tried. If it weren’t for the issues I mentioned I’d be using it on quite a few sites right now.
I actually hacked it apart a bit and got it to display on only one page but I decided not to implement it because I noticed that you update the plugin so frequently.
On, one other thing that I noticed is that it would be helpful if you added a line to re-frame the browser window when “Get Directions” is clicked. On smaller displays it can be very confusing to click the button and not see anything happen due to the fact that the directions are appearing bellow the map which is taking up the entire display area.
Thanks Joost! Awesome plugin by the way, dunno what I’d do with out it.
Sure! Where would you like me to send the login information?
