Figured it out:

… made it not working for “pages”, only for “posts”.

I’m having exact the same problem with canonical URLs. No plugins used.

I’m feeling a littly dumb now, but i will give the ThreeWP Boardcast plugin a try, since i misunderstood the way it works.

(It’s in fact not just “copying” the content, it’s also possible to update the original content and it’s generating the canoncial URLs…)
