I’m having this same problem. It does look like my blogroll is getting favicons for external sites successfully, so something is working. It’s only showing the site title though, not the most recent post name or date.
I have “Use Google Feed Discovery” selected.
I also have “Displays the blogname, the age of the latest article and its title. Each element in its own line” checked.
Any ideas about how to debug this further?
