In reply to: [podPress] [Plugin: podPress] Adding Google Tracking CodeYeah, I’m in the process of attempting the jQuery approach (although it’s not working right now). Was just curious of what it would take to update the actual plugin.

In reply to: Podpress not showing up on individual postsTim,
“Revision,” in this case, refers to this scenario:
I write a post (complete with information for media files) and publish it. Then, I go back in after the fact, perhaps to correct an error in text content, and click “Update Post.” So, making a modification after a publish.
I have also seen some oddities when creating a draft, making edits to it, and then publishing at a later time, though. But for me, this is not a common scenario. I can only comment on the first scenario with any depth.

In reply to: Podpress not showing up on individual postsTim,
I hear what you’re saying, but my point is that I’ve never had a problem with podPress tracking my downloads in the “feeds” column; that is, unless I make a revision to a post, then it doesn’t work. And it’s always been that way for me.
Feedburner gets a cached version of my RSS feed and uses its own encoding as a tracking mechanism for enclosures. As I’m sure you know, this is how Feedburner works. This link isn’t something I’m able to create, but it has never been a problem in the past. As you mentioned, all other enclosures also have this Google-encoded URL, and they work fine. Presumably, because those posts haven’t been edited.
It is my belief that this is a problem with podPress. You may not agree, but I am not doing anything out of the ordinary, and I’ve isolated this scenario as one that continually gives me problems.
As always, thanks for your prompt responses!

In reply to: Podpress not showing up on individual postsTim,
Let me rephrase. When I saw that there was a bug and the player was not being displayed on my post, I went back and added a text download link to the MP3 file in my content. I did use the properly formatted link for this instance. podPress IS tracking THESE downloads.
What it is NOT tracking, though, is the people who are subscribed to my feed who download via RSS (iTunes, Zune, etc.). When making my revision, I did not modify the existing podPress information (media location, size, length, etc.) that I had originally entered. If I go into the stats area, the numbers under “Feed” for this particular file are no longer changing.
This has been a problem with podPress for some time now. In older versions, I noticed the same behavior. If I go in and make any modifications to the content of a post, statistics stop working as they should.

In reply to: Podpress not showing up on individual postsOK, I will try that.
Here is another issue I found: When I noticed that the player wasn’t displaying properly, I edited the post to include a download link. In doing so, I broke the stats for that particular post. After an edit, the system no longer keeps track of downloads from my feed.
Hi Tim,
Thanks for your continued responses.
To answer your questions:
1 – I have not changed the naming convention for my podcasts. I use underscores instead of spaces.
2 – I did some digging and WAS able to find the latest podcast episodes in the “Downloads Per Media File” area. The problem is merely that they are out of order. I was making an assumption that the most popular would appear at the very top (and judging from your response, they should). In reality, they ARE appearing, but way down on the list, despite the fact that they are some of the most downloaded shows I’ve posted. The download numbers for these look accurate.
Might be more a bug with the way things are ordered on that page? Would be really nice if we could sort by the column.
Thanks again!
Hi Tim,
I think the numbers are being tracked, but I don’t think they’re being displayed on the “Downloads Per Media File” screen. At least, my new content isn’t being displayed. But, as I mentioned, it is being tracked, because I can find the information I need from “Downloads Per Post.”
I am currently using the “Full” logging mode. The URL of my blog is https://www.solidverbal.com.
Thanks again
