This is an email from my customer…I’d say something definitely isn’t right…
Mike, I just did a quick audit of the subscriber list on the dashboard from the latest post:
All 248 e-mails were sent and indicated same with a single check mark
106 (including the test account you just opened) were opened and indicated with a double check mark
Out of the 142 remaining with a single check mark, 36 of those subscribers never miss reading a post and many send me comments either on WP or via a personal e-mail. A few that I have spot checked in with claim not to have seen the last two posts.
The remaining subscribers who show a sent e-mail are only occasional readers.
So that is the audit results. Something is definitely wrong on some level?`
Still many subscribers aren’t receiving the email notifications. Is there something else we can test to see what exactly is going on and why some folks aren’t receiving emails?
Thanks,
MikeWe did a test to about 20 of our subscribers (over 230) and they all went through and the reports showed the same.
Going to try another production post to see what happens. Strange behavior.
Anything else to look for?
Well I’ve narrowed down the problem again. Seems as if a Period(.) at the end of a sentence at the end of the template is causing things to NOT send. The same sentence, with the period in the middle of the template sends fine.

See the arrow – if there is a period here it will NOT send.
This goes for a post notification or a newsletter…
The host says everything is fine. We have expanded sending limits so I know it’s not that. SMTP is just something else to configure – plus we have to use our personal email providers settings right? Was trying to avoid any other plugin’s and setup.
I’m having the problem AGAIN with sending new post notifications. They aren’t going through.
I’ve deactivated the plugins that have have recently been updated and have also deactivated a couple that are no longer supported and nothing has worked.
Something is definitely messed up.
Please advise,

I got a reply from Akismet – they said it wouldn’t really be anything with their plugin to cause the issue – unless you’ve integrated any of their API into their plugin.
Not sure what’s what at this point – it’s beyond my knowledge lol. Just trying to help with a solution.
Here is the thread I posted over there.

In reply to: [Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection] Akismet interfering with another pluginThanks for the reply. I did post my same findings about the issue over there but havne’t heard back. I will post again with the specific questions you asked me.
Thanks again,
MikeThanks Icegram for looking into things. Next up was to disable other plugins…
As a start, I looked at everything that was updated since Nov 7 as this was my last successful post notification.
First on the list was Akismet – sure enough once I disabled that, my notifications started going through again. I did a couple of tests and so far so good.
I will continue to test and report back here but I think I’m good. I reported the issue on the Akismet support page too – not sure who it’s up to to fix, but as always, I can help in any way possible.
Thanks again,
MikeI’ve tried WP HTML AND PHP HTML – neither are functioning correctly…I will re-post my summary from my original post…I’m trying to avoid additional plugins and other stuff to go wrong so I haven’t tried SMTP or CRON.
It’s been working flawlessly until Nov 10th or so…But see summary below…
? Became an active (new) customer of my e-mail service provider/domain host BlueHost on August 7th.
? Since August 7th I have successfully published 6 blog posts just as i have with the other 125 blog posts prior and all notifications went through
? On November 10th I noticed problems with my newest post as it wasn’t being received by any of the subscribers except me
? Five days later, after multiple calls to my host and multiple reposts of the newest blog post, and various tests I still am unable to connect with any of the subscriber list except me
? Coincidentally, I republished a blog post, as a test, that was initially published in October 2017 and it sent perfectly and was received by all the subscribers. I have received an number of personal e-mails as well as many hits on the post.
? Furthermore, in a small sample size test today (5 test subscribers) I received both postings but the others only received the post of the blog which was a reissue of the Oct 2017 version, which is consistent with what has been happening.
? Tested sending WP and PHP HTML (neither work) – plain text works – but as mentioned this isn’t acceptable. Haven’t tested CRON or SMTP yet. Copy and pasted latest post in text file before hand to eliminate any funky characters that could be the issue.
ALl plugins are up to date and so is WP. No new plugins and notifications are NOT going into SPAM. Host says everything looks fine. 200 subscribers – host allows 500. Plugin “sent report” says they were all sent. As mentioned, even a small group doesn’t work – to all different domains. Sending plain text works but this is not acceptable because our notification email includes an image and links.
The issue is NOT resolved. I can send plain text but not HTML – this is a problem because plain text looks horrible. I was only testing plain text as data for an actual fix.
Please see my original post with lots of documentation…
Ok so the plain text version went through to all 5 test subscribers for me too. Hopefully this is good data to help resolve the issue.
That’s next on my list – I will report back hopefully soon. I hope the team here is working on this – GREAT plugin otherwise…
Also, when I use the test email function – it sends fine…
