In reply to: [Broken Link Checker] Database Crashed On InstallThanks so much for this info and also for the follow-up email. I’ll get a dev to look at the default collation scenario but as Sybre says, this did not even get a chance to arrive at a screen where the user could select options etc – I have a huge site and it’s been active for ages, with loads of links so with anything database-linked, I always opt to look first and go in small increments. But there wasn’t that option or any warning about checking unicodes. Having said that, I appreciate this response and the information. Will reply to the email also.

In reply to: [Broken Link Checker] Database Crashed On InstallThanks for this and I will email however there are several reports of similar events in reviews and within this support forum so it is not exactly an unknown factor. We do have backups and have restored everything except that the permalinks need to be completely re-indexed. And as this happened without even a chance to look at settings, there ought to be some sort of warning on the plugin. However I will email as per your suggestion, thank you.

In reply to: [Broken Link Checker] Database Crashed On InstallAn update – we managed to restore the site/repair the database but the entire table of links is now empty – would really appreciate some advice on this.

In reply to: [WooCommerce PayPal Payments] Doesn’t even workI would have provided more details or opened a support ticket but I can see that the responses to the issue I have are all either blaming the person trying to get help or posting irrelevant responses like ‘check paypal vaulting is turned on’ when the person has already said that it is and that they’ve spent significant time with Paypal trying to sort it out.
I don’t think this thing was ever tested on a site with actual customers or working merchants. I had to turn Paypal off and now my big concern – apart from dealing with unhappy customers – is whether I leave Woo, leave WordPress or try to cobble together a solution from one of the old school Paypal hacky button links. Thanks for the stress and taking me back to Web 2003. Woo used to be great and I never even questioned that it would basically do what it was meant to do.

In reply to: [WooCommerce PayPal Payments] No longer suggesting paypal for clientsI am trying to leave a review for this plug-in but get a message saying I am unable to “post new topics” – is this because I have been in contact with Woo asking them how they could have not only green-lit but mandated this plug in?
I have used WooCommerce since it was launched and it’s integrated into multiple areas of my site. It worked really well and I have specifically never has an issue with the Paypal part of things until this hideous new plug in.
It’s been unbelievably stressful and we’re now not taking Paypal payments because of it. The revenue loss is suboptimal but it’s better than naturally upset customers confused by a series of glitch-messages and the fact that they’ve paid but not received what they paid for.
If I was allowed to review this I would like to give it negative stars – I’m now having to work out if we keep the current Stripe only install – in which case, we may as well move on from Woo, install one of the several options designed to restore Paypal standard – bonus – it works – or leave Wp altogether. Frankly I’d rather have been allowed to keep using the working solution and be able to get on with things.
