I had the same problem. On localhost everything was fine, but after installing WP 4 on host – http mistake appeared. I’ve tried everything: editing .htaccess, php.ini and settings – but images won’t upload normally. Then I tried to change php version (5.4 to 5.3) in my host cpanel – and it helped!
