In reply to: [Plugin: Disqus] How do I remove the comment count?Esmi – I changed the attributes for the comments_popup_link from “0” to “Leave a comment” on pretty much every template page, but that didn’t do it. Maybe the wp code in the theme is overridden by the Disqus plugin? I don’t see anything similar in the diqus plugin php, so I’m not sure what to do.
Any other ideas?

In reply to: Can I display a static image on the front page between posts?Right now I have it as a post, but what I really want is to have it stay in a position right after my most recent post.
For example:
Post from 12/31/10
Banner image with link
Post from 12/29/10 (excerpt)Then after another new post,
Post from 1/2/2011
Banner image with link
Post from 12/31/10 (excerpt)
Post from 12/29/10 (excerpt)This way, the banner add stays in the same place (second from the top) and the posts move downward “around” it.

Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: How to get started? If you are interested in testing and tweaking your site while you get it ready for traffic and learn the ropes, rather than installing it to you laptop, you should strongly consider calling your hosting provider and asking for either 1) a temporary domain, or 2) (more likely) just ask them for the actual IP address of your domain. That way you can work on it there before making it live.
The ip address like https://66.147.244.210/~mypatrai/blog/ will be useable, but no one will visit it until you point your domain name at it. This way you can learn the ropes and play with design without visitors seeing it. When you’re ready, call your host and have them point your domain at the ip address, and then people will be able to get there with the domain name.

In reply to: How do I view my .org blog before importing the .com data?Sorry, I guess I wasn’t clear. I’m wondering how I can tinker with my site without it being live. That way when I like it, I can transfer all the posts and comments over from wordpress.com and point the domain at my self-hosted site, the effect being unnoticeable by readers.
In other words, how can I use wordpress(software, not .com) to put together a prototype of my site without visitors to my blog going to the prototype while it’s in progress?
