Hey D4D3 I know you posted 9 months ago, and the plugin has probably come a long way since then, so I wont address my response at you specifically, but I disagree with your comments based on the latest version of the plugin I am using.

1) It works excellently and delivers everything it says it does.

I have the pro version and am very happy with it.

2) I have found the support from the developers to be excellent and responsive, but you need to use the developers website forum for support.

I also had this problem. After doing some research I found that Slick Social Share buttons was incorrectly generating the description for sharing to social media. The description was including shortcodes without actually parsing them. As you describe.

I Disabled Opengraph in the Slick Social Share settings and this fixed the problem.

I use Yoast SEO Plugin and that generates a nice description.

You can still use slick social buttons, just disable Opengraph and see how that goes.
