any suggestion on how to recover from situation 1 ?

My hosting provider doesn’t provide server logs for shared hosting ??

• Reinstalled wordpress on a clean database -> I can login.

Restored all plugins (excpet wordfence and w3cache -> I can login

• Imported the WP tables oly from the old database (options, comment, post, user, etc.) -> again the ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED !!

It’s driving me nuts/mad, but that doesn’t help.

No message after login, but no access to site.
WF kept sending login notification messages, so apparently succesful.

Not solved by removing WF via FTP and reinstalling. Worked with FireFox so problem isolated in Chrome. Clean browser cache did the job.
