Just to add some further information…

I was also running 2.8.6 but have also upgraded to 2.9.1 with no change.

I’ve also disabled all plug-ins.

PHP is running using FastCGI.

I’m afraid I don’t have a solution as I’ve hit this exact same problem myself. Other PHP apps seem to be running very well but WordPress is much slower even though the server I’ve moved it to it brand new (Windows Server 2008 r2 64 bit with IIS7.5 – 8 cores, 4GB RAM) so it should be much faster in theory.

I’ve tried different versions of PHP as well:

• PHP 5.2.12 (non thread safe)
• PHP 5.2.3 (thread safe)
• PHP 5.2.5 (x64)

But no change there either.

If anyone has any bright ideas please let me know.
