In reply to: FTP needed or not for local uploadI have already spent several days in Ubuntu support forums. My Ubuntu is installed correctly as I have been told after performing several checks. Everything is updated. I was told several times that it is a WordPress Issue to to go to www.remarpro.com for support. After googling the same problem I found that this has happened to other people as well and some running Mac and Windows OS.

In reply to: Installation of ThemeI tried that originally and got “access denied” prompt.
I did manage to access the folder through Chown sudo chown -R www-data your-theme-directory. That got me into the folder. I was able to put the theme into the themes folder. But now I cannot access it either through WP Dashboard.Forum: Fixing WordPress

Since I am just creating but not hosting my own site do I need to create a server within my own computer?
If I do that what do I set my IP address to? My own IP address or another IP address that is a few number off?
I am running LINUX and the setup process is quite a bit more.
