But fundamentally, the problem is that what had been there is no longer visible. It seems clear that these features remain somewhere in the code, because they do show up sometimes (i.e., with some themes). Since I did nothing — apart from trying out different themes, back and forth, one after another, I am wondering why they simply vanished (in certain themes but not others), and how to get them back. It seems logical that since one of the Admin options is changing themes, it is pretty standard and should not cause things to disappear. But changing themes did cause things to disappear, so I am looking for the answer to Why? And How to fix?

Oh, sorry. Well, for simplicity’s sake, we can really keep it, I think, at WP Classic vs. WP Default — between them, they seem to embody the problem. Classic works, Default doesn’t. Default used to work perfectly. I haven’t done anything fancy — didn’t play with code. It was just first it worked, now it doesn’t work.

The point is, there must be something somewhere that has been altered, just by switching around through templates, that is not visible or reparable by me. I’m hoping that somewhere within the site admin there is something that might be obvious to you that isn’t to me… I apologize for being so vague, but I just don’t know what to look for, since it is unclear that I did anything to change it.

And as for which themes, they were just the few included on the Presentation page. I have since tried Barthelme, which also doesn’t have all the links the WP Default used to have. Arrgghhhh!
