In reply to: Troubleshooting z-indexThat is actually the correct directory. Just to be sure, I went into Dreamweaver and used the “Insert Image” command and it came up with the same directory.
I also am not sure what I would apply the negative margin to in order to get the logo to flow outside of the page, but not the header.

In reply to: Troubleshooting z-index“Yes, was there a reason you were using it as a background image?
You don’t have to delete the wrapper, just the background image style that would become obsolete. “… I added #wrapper only to try to place the logo properly.

In reply to: Troubleshooting z-indexI did that… but I can’t even see the image at all now.

In reply to: Troubleshooting z-indexOh, so I’m actually just placing the image? Do I delete the wrapper div that I put in, then?

In reply to: Troubleshooting z-indexI added the #wrapper myself to the header.php and footer.php of the child theme.

In reply to: Troubleshooting z-indexMy theme already is a child theme of twenty eleven. Can you explain what changes I’d need to make to this child theme?

In reply to: Troubleshooting z-indexI put the image file back in the wrapper div and re-uploaded style.css. You should be able to see the very edge of “Empowering Life”

In reply to: Troubleshooting z-indexThis is the mockup of the site:

In reply to: Background image that overflows beyond the content areaActually, I take that back… it’s not overflowing properly. It turns out that I had the margins on the wrapper wider than the page so it appeared that the negative margins were working, but it was actually just showing in the overflow. I am using a fixed width, centered layout. I guess I could make the wrapper a fixed width wider than the page and put the image in there. It seems like there should be a proper way to do it though.

In reply to: Background image that overflows beyond the content areaSo I finally got back to this and was able to successfully place the wrapper in the header and footer, and have the image show up outside the edges of the wrapper, but now the image inside the wrapper is buried under the header (and maybe some other layers too).
I actually tried this on a different site I’m working on, not the one I first referenced…. empoweringlife.sezgintester.us.
I know that z-index does soemthing with layers but I’m not really sure how to use it, and I don’t know if it would work the same in WordPress anyhow.
Thanks for the previous help, WPyogi!

In reply to: Background image that overflows beyond the content areaI thought about trying to do that, but I’m relatively new to WordPress and php and I wasn’t sure in which files I would put the opening and then the closing tags for a wrapper…. header.php for the opening tag and footer.php for the closing ones?
