In reply to: [WP Reading List] Cover Image missing in single postHello,
I looked into the code and an image should be displayed whether you have a featured image for the post or if you rely on the stock image.
Can you please provide a link to a post you are having trouble with?
Thanks,
Mike

In reply to: [WP Reading List] Plugin results in 404 pagesHello,
What is the url for your website?
Did you update your permalink settings between activating the plugin and seeing this error? And what permalink settings are you using?
Thanks,
Mike

In reply to: [WP Reading List] Shortcode & Cover ImageHello,
With the release of version 3.0 today, there is now shortcode support (limited to a “plain” view at this time) and an option to change the default cover image in the admin panel.
More shortcode views hopefully to come.
Cheers,
Mike

In reply to: [WP Reading List] Shortcode & Cover ImageHello,
At this time, I do not have an estimate for when there will be a shortcode, sorry.
If you want to change the cover image, the only way to do so at this time is to upload another image (with the same name) and replace wp-content/plugins/wp-reading-list/wprl-theme/default.png
I am hoping to get image upload functionality in place sometime soon.
Cheers,
Mike

In reply to: [WP Reading List] How to resize feature imageSorry, I didn’t have a chance to look at things the last few days.
If you go to the WordPress admin panel > Settings > WP Reading List you can change two things to help with image sizing:
1) Grid Width. Set this to a higher number to have four books in a row, rather than three. This will make the images smaller accordingly.
2) Layout Item Spacing. Make this bigger to increase the whitespace between items in a row and also make the images smaller.
Let me know if that is what you were looking for.
Cheers,
Mike

In reply to: [WP Reading List] How to resize feature imageHello,
Adding more items in a row in the grid view makes the overall size of the image smaller (the size also depends on the overall width of your website).
For the list view or single item view, you will have to add custom CSS to change it since there is nothing in the admin panel to change that size.

Mike

In reply to: [WP Reading List] Search/Add books directly from Amazon or other sourceHello,
No worries about extending the plugin on your own. It is entirely open source.
Just remember that if you update the plugin to a new version you will lose any changes you made so be sure to keep a backup.

Mike

In reply to: [WP Reading List] Search/Add books directly from Amazon or other sourceHello,
Yes there is the option in the settings to include your Reading List items in your homepage “recent posts” section and in search results.
Unfortunately, at this point development is frozen on the plugin. My advice would be to make a “work type” with the tags you want to use. Then enable “show item type” in the settings and your tag will show up under the cover image. I believe that is the closest thing to what you want to do.

Mike

In reply to: [WP Reading List] Navigating to reading list items?Hello,
The plugin adds the page automatically. If you create a page yourself, then the plugin’s page will be overwritten.
What you need to do is add a custom link to your menu with the correct url. Once you do that (and delete any pages with the same url slug) then you should see your reading list items.

Mike
Hello,
This is something your theme is doing, probably in the single.php file. The plugin disables sidebars by default but theme must be overriding it.

In reply to: [WP Reading List] Can I write an intro above my books?Hello,
Sorry, at this time both layouts only support metadata below and to the right of the cover image. Once a visitor clicks on the individual book, then it will show the content you wrote.

Mike

Sorry for the delay. I just took a look at your site and I see that the reading list now shows up at https://www.williamburdine.com/reading-list/
