In reply to: Site Urls area grayed out/uneditable!Well, after either editing the wrong functions.php file or adding one in the wrong spot five different times in a row I seem to have finally done it correctly! My blog appears to be working fine now, and the blog & site urls in my admin dashboard are now unlocked. Thank you!

In reply to: Site Urls area grayed out/uneditable!So if I do what I did before and then immediately do the editing to the functions.php file that will fix the broken links/pages on my blog?
Sorry to ask so many questions but I am not computer tech savvy at all and doing this type of thing to my blog scares the crap out of me because I’m deathly scared I’ll break it and not be able to fix it!

In reply to: Site Urls area grayed out/uneditable!I should note, that the reason I need to change the site & wordpress urls is because I need to move my wordpress blog to another domain (out of the subdirectory.) I have directions on how to do this- but the first step is changing the site & wordpress urls on my wordpress dashboard! And I can’t. Because they’re grey. And when I make them ungrey, none of the menulinks/page links in my blog work.

In reply to: Unable to change site/wordpress urlLast post I swear because I’m going to bed. Okay. So I tried deleting define(‘WP_SITEURL’, and also define(‘WP_HOME’, again, only this time I deleted the entire lines (which included my site url.) It worked!!! The wordpress and site url areas within my wordpress dashboard were no longer gray and I could edit them!
However. While the face of my website worked, when I clicked on any of the menu items they took me to weird spam looking pages.
Ugh!

In reply to: Unable to change site/wordpress urlAlso (sorry to post again,) I need the site url and blog url fields (under general > settings in the wordpress dashboard) to be ungreyed out. Isn’t there anything I can do to simply get these two fields to be editable again?

In reply to: Unable to change site/wordpress urlOkay- I logged into FTP via Cyberduck and did find the wp-config.php file, I opened it, and I deleted the define(‘WP_SITEURL’, and also define(‘WP_HOME’, like I read. I saved the changes and all it did was break my site! When I tried to enter in my website url it took me to a blank white page that said ‘Parse error: syntax error,’ unexpected ‘)’ in ‘home/allis/public_html/myblog/wp-config.php on line 3’
So I went back and added the things I deleted and know my site works again, but my problem is not solved. I’m at a loss!

In reply to: Unable to change site/wordpress urlThanks. Unfortunately I am NOT computer tech savvy at ALL and I’ve read that article and just have a giant headache at the end. I don’t even know how to find the ‘wp-config.php’ file! I’ve logged into both my wordpress control panel and my host Cpanel and I have no clue where it is. I need these steps dumbed down as if you’re talking to a first grader- lol. Please!

In reply to: Unable to change site/wordpress urlI might add that I have TWO different wordpress blogs. I checked the other one (the one I DON’T need to make any changes to) and it’s working- I could change the site address/url if I wanted. :::sigh:::
