You’ll have to walk me through the expected use model for me to understand your request. At first glance, I don’t see how this would work because providing a user with a link when they don’t have access to the Dashboard doesn’t do anything. I am not sure it is even possible to send a link to the Dashboard User Profile page, which is where the email preferences are modified.

If I understand what you are saying, the “box” in the image you posted with the “SONGBOOK”, rainbow heart, “Rainbow Songs” and small image on the right (not sure what it is) are added automatically if you have the web site url in the email?

    Maybe this will help:

If you send a “regular” email then the recipient will be able to read the content which you send independent of your web site. It is no different than a normal email message from that perspective.

If you want to force your users to visit your web site and login to see content, use the Post/Page Notification feature to send them an email which contains some content plus a link to the page or post which would require a login before being able to read it. The “Notify Users” function is available on the editing screen for posts and pages in the upper right hand corner or from the Dashboard > Pages > Notify Users or Dashboard > Posts > Notify Users menus.

You can use the “Sender Name Override” function to do this. To set up an override, use the Seneder Name Override field on the plugin settings page (Dashboard > Settings > Email Users).

When you have a Sender Name Override set up, you will have a choice when composing a message to send it with the settings from the logged in user (basically what you see now) or the override user with a radio button to select which you want to use.

I just did two submissions, one on your web site (the second submission) and one from your form embedded on my web site. Both worked without any problems. You should see the submission results in the Google spreadsheet for the form.

What platform and browser are you running with? I ran my test with Chrome on Windows 10.

The ding for missing instructions is fair, I’ll see what I can do to improve that.

If you are trying to send a post or page to a group of users, there should be a “Notify Users of this Post/Page” button/link on the upper right hand side of the edit screen.

Are you sure this review is for the Email Users plugin? Email Users does not manage your SMTP settings. Nor does it manage templates. The closest thing to a template is the Default Notification content which is used when notifying users of a post or page.

You can ignore the second paragraph of my reply, that is related to my Google Forms plugin where I had a similar question. Sorry for the confusion.

The Email Users plugin doesn’t capture email addresses as part of the plugin functionality. It leverages the WordPress database and does queries against the user to obtain email addresses to send emails to various users. The data which is logged, if logging is enabled, does not contain the user’s email address.

If a form is specifically set up to define a field as an email address then it would capture whatever the user provides and pass it along to the Google Sheets but the actual data is not stored by the WordPress plugin.

That is a good start but that isn’t the question I asked.

The form itself, the one you define using Google Forms in Google Drive needs to be downgraded from the current version of Forms to the older version of Forms. There is a process of doing this outlined on my web site but it is also linked within the plugin itself.

When defining a form within WordPress, the plugin, in most cases, can detect when a form needs to be downgraded and puts a notice on the Dashboard page like seen in this post on my web site.

Have you downgraded your Google Form?

Is there a message at the top of the page where you defined the form noting that your form needs to be downgraded?

Sounds like you have some sort of a plugin conflict. The mechanism in which the Email User settings menu is constructed hasn’t changed in a long, long time. Some new options have been added over the years but the way the settings page hooks into the Dashboard has been stable.

What I recommend is temporarily disabling all other plugins except Email Users and see if the problem persists. If it doesn’t, start enabling plugins one at a time or in small groups until the problem comes back. That will narrow down the conflict. Once you know which plugin is conflicting with Email Users we can figure the next steps.

I fixed this last night and pushed out an update. There were a couple of other minor fixes in the same updated I’ve been sitting on as well.

Thanks for pointing it out, looks like I missed one when I made the changes for https support a while back. Fortunately the fix is easy, I will commit an update when I am hope later tonight.
