If I go with the option #2 – all WP site – i guess i would have to do something like
– new index, not the usual WP index page
– all my pages of the site would have to be “wp pages”
– when visiting the blog section i would make appear the archives dates on the right… all this by modifying the Theme files for post.php

ok, thanks Moshu. My author page works well, i was in fact the link that does needed to be the one made by wp. At first I wanted to create a page then insert the codes to show the infos I wanted.

But how can I insert a photo to the author page ?

Totaly not the codex page i had found, this one is way better.

i have created my author.php file and uplaoded it by ftp. My arhive.php was already there, existing.
At the moment, on my posts, my writers links is set to elsewhere, so where do I go to see the author.php preview showing on my blog ? I’ve tryed myblog.com/author.php and it goes to the 404error page.

But do I create a new page from wordpress control panel (Write > Page) and name it Authors ?
Because I want to that when people read an article, an see the writer name, clic on the writer name, an that link open a WP page named Authors.
That Autors pages would show a list of the present writers form the blog (name), and maybe option later (like post count, etc.). And probably a little resume on them, like a short bio.

All that time I was understanding that the problem was “inside” my database, that the upgrade, when WP says DB upgrade, had corrupted my DB, and so that’s why I was trying to resolve “that” problem… wich was not that one at all but only :

open wp-config.php (downloaded form your ftp)
delted those two lines (define('DB_CHARSET', 'utf8');
define('DB_COLLATE', '');)
re-upload by ftp
refresh

Everything got back on place by telling the good caracter set, lol.

thanks guys. I never wrote those lines by the way, they where there alreday. Maybe it happened because my original version (auto-installed by the host) was to old, who knows…
Ok, so i will reuplaod the wp-config file and rerun the update and my database will get fixed that way. I will put a note here after this action.

thanks a lot for helping me here MichaelH, but the part i need an answer is now that it is already done, already messup, those funky caracteres are alreday there in my blog for my past posts… what do I do to go back in time and fix that bug ? yes, i did deleted them easily on my computer… but now, what do I do ?
A — Do i just re-upload the config.php and retype the url for upgrade.php, and eveything will get i place by itself ?
B — Or do i need to do something else. Maybe something with my database… wich is the one that seams affected ?

1 on 2 is solved.

But still have this caracter corruption problem… What is this ? How can I go back in the process and get rid of all those weird replacement caracters like showned post above ?
Those caracters replacing my french accent appears inside my blog posts/textes AND inside my admin control panel when I go to Manage-Posts.
