I understand that but, just to confirm, the issue exists on servers that don’t have the mu-plugins so this is NOT the culprit of the problem.
I’m not sure what else to say apart from the fact that we can now no longer use the Yoast plugin which is now going to effect well over 200 sites that we support.
As you can see from the other poster on this thread, they have had the same problem (and no mention of a mu-plugin there either)The Stackcache plugin wasn’t activated though, yes, it was installed as it is a must-use plugin but it wasn’t running. I have now removed this and the problem still exists.
As noted originally though, the issue exists on other hosting platforms, where must-use plugins like the stackcache are not present
Can you confirm though that you’ve looked at the video I created, this really demonstrates the issue well.
Hi there, the stackcache plugin isn’t activated so I don’t think that is where the issue lies.
I’ve recorded a video showing the issue. In the video, you can see that whilst version 17.2 of the plugin is active, everything works fine, but when I update to version 17.3 it fails.
You can see the video here – https://yoast-testing-com.stackstaging.com/video/
@jeroenrotty is there any update on this, things are getting quite bad now as none of our sites seem to be working after the latest update
Thanks for your input. I have also created a brand new installation. I am using a hosted WP installation option (via the hosting company) – please note though, I’ve tried this on 2 separate hosting packages with different companies.
The new install I have is;
-WordPress 5.8.1
-Default Twenty Twenty-One theme (version 1.4)
-Yoast SEO 17.3The results of the site health are;

Same here, general advice on clearing everything but no success. I explained that I have used a brand new installation with no other plugins and still get the same problem so it’s not a cache issue, it’s sadly a Yoast plugin issue. Looking back through older threads on the forum I can see there have been some patches created for older versions (recently) so it may be that something will come soon, we just need it quickly as we have well over a hundred sites that are now effected
