    Hi,

I’m afraid all the solutions that you have provided didn’t work. We’ve been more several weeks trying solutions, even on 2 different sites, and nothing works. I don’t think closing this ticket when is still unsolved is the correct solution.

Your last recommendation says to try another theme, but if you read my previous posts, you will see that I’ve been trying this for many times already, and doesn’t work. I’ve tried 3 different thememse, in 2 different sites, and still doesn’t work.

About firewall, there is NO firewall activated on the server.

So problem is not on the server side.

Please help, as we have been weeks trying, and nothing worked so far.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Enrique

    Hi,

    Thanks once again.

I have just put Cloudflare on “Pause” mode.

Can’t edit the default WAF rules on the free version of Cloudlflare, but I created a rule which (I think) will disable all WAF rules for the subdomain staging.motion4.eu.

Can you please check on your end if this worked?

The last option I can think about is to disable Cloudflare completely, and point all DNS to the hosting of my service provider. What do you think?

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Enrique

    Hi,

    Thanks again.

I just spoke with our server provider. They said there’s no firewall or caché installed on the server side.

The only problem they got in the last 2 hours is this:

[Mon Jul 15 13:42:33.172570 2024] [security2:error] [pid 1149699:tid 1149744] [client 89.44.58.150:0] [client 89.44.58.150] ModSecurity: Warning. Matched phrase “=” at ARGS:post_data. They also said that they added the ID [id “933120”], and asked me to try again. On my side, the tax problem still persists.

    Does this help you?

We also use Cloudflare (free version). Could the problem come from here?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your suggestion.

I have changed the Theme to Storefront, and the problem perssists. Also with Twenty Twenty Four theme ??

You can check yourself on the link below, with Storefront theme activated:

    https://staging.motion4.eu/shop-online/

The only plugins activated are Woocommerce and Advanced Database Cleaner.

Weird, right? I hope you can find what is causing this, I’m desperate trying to find solutions.

Thank you once again for your help.

    Best regards,

    Enrique

    Hi again,

I have just set the permalinks correctly.

I also changed the theme from Twenty Twenty Four to Salient Child, as the links would not work correctly with the first one. With Twenty Twenty four, it will try to display the pages in Spanish but unless WPML is activated, it will always show an error message, as the pages are set in English by default. If you prefer to continue using Twenty Twenty Four, you will have to reactivate WPML translation.

As the Shop is still not live, you will not find a link to it on the main menu. I would recommend you to go straight to one of the products or product category, and start from there:

I tried WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin for a while but for some reason it didn’t work well for me. I don’t remember what the problem was, I think it was that it would consider Spain as a single taxing system, when we have 4 taxing systems (for mainland, and for Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla). Probably it didn’t work because the site was having the tax problems that I am currently dealing with. If we can fix it, it might work for me. I will give it another chance once this is solved.

If you need WordPress credentials or access to FTP, please let me know.

    Thank you!

    Hello!

    I confirm that:

    – Geolocation is not activated and I don’t have any account with Maxmind:
    https://snipboard.io/NPXJ78.jpg
    https://snipboard.io/ZjeFyT.jpg
    – The only 2 plugins currently activated are 1) Woocommerce and 2) Database cleaner: https://snipboard.io/bvJ0Qt.jpg

This is the first time I use Github, I hope I did it correctly. If not, just let me know and I will try again:

    Hi,

Thank you so much for your help!

I have strictly followd all your instructions:

    1. Created a staging site called https://staging.motion4.eu/
    2. Had to deactivate ALL plugins before I could delete Woocommerce. Deleted Woocommerce
    3. Installed Advanced Database cleaner
    4. Went to General Clean-up > Clean > All elements: https://snipboard.io/SuxopH.jpg
    5. Went to Tables > Bulk Actions > I repaired and Optimized all tables. I didn’t select “Empty rows” or “Delete”, as I was afraid this would delete all database. Should I?: https://snipboard.io/5uz7vO.jpg
    6. Reinstalled and Activate Woocommerce. The only plugins now activated are Woocommerce and Advanced Database cleaner
    7. Went to products, selected one of them, add 1 pc to cart. 21% VAT for Spain still shows for Spain and for Export countries:

Exactly the same happened if I changed Theme to “TwentyTwenty Four”.

Should I go further and “Empty rows” or “Delete” database tables using the Advanced Database cleaner?

If you need credentials to access WordPress as ADministrator, let me know.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Enrique

    HI,

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Priorities were changed from 1 (in all lines) to 1, 2, 3 as per the suggestion of another user in this forum. It didn’t make any difference, so I set them all back to priority 1. The problem is still there.

Following your suggestion, I removed the line for all (*) countries, and the problem persists. With just 1 line where country = ES (Spain), the tax set on that line shows up on Checkout, regardless of the country. No matter if I display Spain or Botswana, the tax is always the same. No way to get rid of it.

The State/Region column also applies in Spain, as the country is formed by 50 regions, where 4 of them have special taxes. Woocommerce recognizes the initials of all 50 Spanish regions, and every Spanish company must have these 4 regions specified, to be able to sell there (sales to the Canary islands, Ceuta, Melilla, although being Spanish territories are treated as exports).

I already tried plugins to recognize EU VATs, and the problem still persists. But even for export countries, out of the EU, the Spanish tax still shows up.

    Best regards,

    Enrique

    Hi,

    Thanks for your support.

I just tried it, but unfortunately it didn’t work:

    1. I set the taxes as you mendioned, then cleared caché: https://snipboard.io/yiSp0j.jpg
    2. Check-out for Spain, includes 21% SPAIN TAX: https://snipboard.io/uj1HSX.jpg
    3. Check-out for other countires, includes also 21% SPAIN TAX: https://snipboard.io/LAJBn8.jpg

In my opinion, there is something wrong in the database or php files, as I have tried all the solutions that you guys have been suggesting in the last days (very appreciated, of course), but it looks like nothing can be done. It doesn’t work, even after changing the Theme to the default “TwentyTwentyFour” and having Woocommerce as the only plugin activated (all the rest deactivated). I have even deleted and reinstall/reactivate the Woocommerce plugin.

Can it be something related to the files inside the Woocommerce plugin, that relate countries with taxes?

In a previous message (above), I sent a screenshot of the tables

which are apparently correct. Is there any other table or php file that I should check?

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Enrique

    Hi,

Thank you once again for your help! ??

I tried what you just mentioned, unfortunately without success.

    TEST 1:

    TEST 2:

Answering your last question: yes, I tried changing customer’s billing address to shipping address, unfortunately with no change on the result. Also removed shipping tax, same result.

    Thank you once again!

    Hi,

I strictly followed all these steps, and I even cleared the caché after each of them, just in case.

    But the problem persists ??

When I setup the tax again, I just added 2 lines: 1 for Spain, and 1 for all other countries: https://snipboard.io/SiD3zX.jpg

Whatever country I show on the check-out page, it will always charge 21%:

These are the other parameters setup:

Could the problem come because a table in the database or a php file corrupted, that relates countries/regions with the standard rates?

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Enrique

    Thread Starter motion4

    (@motion4)

    Hi,

Thanks for your email and suggestions.

Yes, the tax is calculated based on the “Customer billing address”. However, no matter what address I type in, or what country I put in the “Country” field, it will always charge a 21% VAT.? But for exports, VAT should be 0%. And for 4 specific regions in Spain, tax should be 7% or 10%, as the Standard rates show (please check previous screenshots). But none of this works. It shows 21% ALWAYS.

I have try to set “Zero rate” to 0% for outside the EU. But this doesn’t work, as we sell goods, so there are no products with “Zero rate” specified.

I suspect all problems started after I deleted “Zero Rate” and “Reduced rates” tax options some weeks ago. Can’t tell if this was what triggered the problems I am now experiencing, as I only noticed this about 2 days later. Anyway, in case that was the cause, I restored the “Zero rate” and “Reduced rates” back.

I did also tried to deactivate ALL plugins, then deleted the WooCommerce plug-in, and reinstall it + activate it again, just in case there was a file corrupted or a table missing in the database. But after deleting, removing, installing and activating the WooCommerce plugin, the problem persists, even before activating all other plugins, and changing the theme to “Twenty Twenty Four”.

Just in case what caused this problem was removing the “Zero rate” and “Reduced rates” tax options (which I later restored), I went into the Database, and everything looks ok:

Hope the above helps you to investigate further.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Enrique

    Hi,

    I just tried…

    But still didn’t work ??

I also cleaned the caché, with the same result
