In reply to: A Suggestion for Monetizing WordPress for Better SupportIt requires some experimentation and market research. People are cheap in general, but they will pay to save themselves time. I’ll put the word out and see if some third party wants to do a startup.

In reply to: A Suggestion for Monetizing WordPress for Better SupportAnd, it doesn’t even have to be capitalist. It can be a cooperative system with paid employees and no capitalist owners. That’s another idea.

In reply to: A Suggestion for Monetizing WordPress for Better SupportIn other words, does WP have any capitalist friends who want to take on a major project?

In reply to: A Suggestion for Monetizing WordPress for Better SupportI understand that, and that’s cool. I didn’t find anything in those links. If WP doesn’t want to do it, can they talk a third party into maybe charging $3-$5 per month for a live support system? It basically amounts to an insurance program like the major web hosting services. I think that would be great. It doesn’t have to be done through www.remarpro.com.

In reply to: A Suggestion for Monetizing WordPress for Better SupportThat’s good news. Can you name any third party services? The free plan is too expensive at the moment. Thanks.

In reply to: A Suggestion for Monetizing WordPress for Better SupportThis forum doesn’t need to be a paid forum. Some people are just fine with this. However, lots of businesses rely on WordPress. Maybe, in addition to the forum, there can be live chat support on another site. To get into that fast lane, people can pay $5 per month or something. That would pay for employees. That’s how freemium works.
“Shouldn’t those people avoid using a volunteer-based forum to begin with, rather than trying to convert that forum into a paid one?”
The volunteer-based forum is all there is. Who can avoid it at this point? Let it stay free, and then maybe provide options for the rest of us. It just makes sense to me that more options is a better idea. One major issue, and people are SOL. That’s the current model. It’s actually a good incentive not to use WP at all. Why limit people’s choices? Free is great. I applaud that. But choices for those who can’t afford free would be nice. Just a thought.
If I may suggest a new name: Acme Experiments.
Now it completely stopped working. It wants billing details now, but the billing details page won’t load. I’m wondering whether this plugin should partner with a different company. There are others. Yoast just needs to approach one. The current one seems to suck eggs. Yoast’s SEO plugin rocks, but they don’t partner with fools to produce that one.
The stats stopped. I switched to split URL tests because the variations weren’t showing otherwise. After one day, it stopped recording conversions. It kept recording visits only. The only thing I can do is manually record the conversions by IP address. Convert Experiments is only recording visits and serving different URL’s to different users. I’m probably about through with this service. I’m looking at other services.

In reply to: How Do You Add HTML Code to Pages and Posts?wpfan100, I was doing just fine with that with WP 3.3.1 or something like that. I’m on 3.6 now and it won’t even allow a simple G+ button with an “a” tag. However, here’s a fix that someone posted. The only problem on my end is that I have no clue where to put the code he mentions. https://www.engfers.com/2008/10/16/how-to-allow-stripped-element-attributes-in-wordpress-tinymce-editor/

In reply to: How to Make Embedded YouTube Videos ResponsiveWordPress is great. There’s just a couple things that really tick me off, like not being able to add a Google Plus button to a post for instance. Anyway, I like your ideas, and that article just LasseMT posted feels right. I’ll bookmark this conversation and try that out. My theme is awesome and it allows CSS insertion in the theme admin. Thanks.

In reply to: How Do You Add HTML Code to Pages and Posts?OK. When you enter anything into the text editor, your code will disappear if you ever click on the visual editor ever again. That’s been my experience. You can spend hours coding. As soon as you click on that visual editor, you lose hours of work. Next time you click, “publish”, that work is gone. Is there any way to edit wordpress, with CSS or whatnot, to prevent this?

In reply to: How Do You Add HTML Code to Pages and Posts?OK. Cool. It’s new for me. On 3.3, I could do that stuff. On 3.6, I can’t. I’m guessing you’re correct because it looks like people have been complaining about that for years. Do you know any ways around that editor problem? I hate the thought of being stuck in the text editor only and losing all my work if I ever click “visual”. No plugin suggestions, please. Plugins are not immortal. People die and people stop updating plugins, and they will ruin your site as soon as they stop updating the plugin. Maybe there’s some code I can use to fix this. Thanks.
Great. I actually just found out that your plugin shows different buttons to different people depending on their sharing preferences. That’s also great. One suggestion I forgot is to add “share this page” or something to the share buttons. If I didn’t know better, I would wonder whether I’m sharing the page or the whole site.
