Thank you Frank, it turned out 77 was a fluke, not repeatable. Back to the previous 60-62 score.
I also tried “AMP for WP – Accelerated Mobile Pages” plugin, but it didn’t result in any mobile improvement. I take it as having done everything that could have been done (apart from WebP images).
Thanks.Thank you Frank – I’m truly perplexed though. Upon removing the plugin (with that “cache thumbnail locally” option still toggled to Yes), I got first 57 Performance result only, and then twice in a row 77.
No other work or tweaking done.
Can there be an explanation to it please?
Have a nice day both.Yes, performance was the only reason – I only seek to cut out the very extras that native YT embed code contains, but the solution to only get a thumbnail clicking which activates that extra YT code, is elusive.
Perhaps that’s equivalent to lazyloading the whole video that Frank confirmed is the case anyway, what do you think please?
I’m already defering JS, and even have defined scripts to exclude from deferral of render blocking JS… CSS is also both combined and minified, and within the PageSpeed test doesn’t offer a great savings potential (unlike excluding hero image from lazy loading, which I already did).
So, I only seek to slim down the load hit associated with single embedded video… any more ideas as to this single area please?
Thanks!I did try activating the “cache thumbnail locally” option (Yes), but it had no good effect either (only somewhat less worse effect):
– Performance down to 57-58 from 60-31
– LCP from roughly 5.2s to 5.8s
– DOM size 870 from 858
Summing up, no improvement on status quo ante at all.
Do you agree with uninstalling and deleting the plugin, or any more good tricks up your sleeve?
Btw I use Speed Optimizer (formerly SG Optimizer), but it offers no power over influence whether a video is lazyloaded or not (unlike images).
Thank you and good evening.Done right now, it’s activated. Default settings, no changes.
Thank you. Thanks a lot Frank, it’s https://www.monicakingsley.co – upon installing and activating the plugin, Performance on PageSpeed moves from 60-62 usual to 34.

In reply to: PHP upgrade from 7.4.33 to 8.1 higher crashes my siteThank you again gentlemen.
@threadi I asked my hosting to check, and after marking the line as // there were thankfully no more error messages. All running smooth.@ashutosharma97 Thank you, I do that manually. I publish just one article a day, and that comes to some 50 revisions in two weeks at worts (when correcting typos).

In reply to: PHP upgrade from 7.4.33 to 8.1 higher crashes my siteThank you gentlemen.
@ashutosharma97 It may have got defined in some subsequent site update (theme?), and I am cleaning the database (post revisions specifically) via WP DB Cleaner.
Is that a sufficient decision in your opinion please?
Using a mailing solution, the database size gets bloated over years fast, and I struggle to keep it below 1 GB obviously…
@threadi Thank you, I have read that topic. This isn’t a matter of browser, or correctly said wasn’t.
Where can I see the error log that you’re talking about please?
Now after upgrading PHP, I have no (visible) issues, and my hosting says website is running, and hinted at Astra probably setting that value newly, leading to that conflict.
I can’t deactivate any plugins really please.
Looking forward for your kind answer showing where to find that error long, and how it should look like in case of no issues. Thanks Dani,
I hope to have my paid for key reactivated again soon, I understand the unfortunate automatic action, and hope it won’t be repeated.
Also looking for a fresh deal shortly as I would like to support Mailpoet appropriately as regards the other solutions ??
Sending mailings smoothly is essential, thanks, good day.
MonicaThank you @get_dave
Staging site isn’t available to me, and anyway wouldn’t deal with the paid plugins that can’t be replicated there.
It wouldn’t have thus helped with Gutenberg ver choice, and I have all updates turned off, updating only manually anyway.
I’m not using any obscure plugins, and hope they would be kept updated.
OK, I Gutenberg is maintained via a community only, could you give me means to reach privately, yes privately, its developers to whom I would like to provide the full array of plugins that I’m running? Much appreciated, thanks,Monica

@jdembowski Thanks but it wasn’t en masse, I published my mail at some 2 places only (easy to take out if you wish, didn’t know that I should not write it).
I wonder why the leading block editor is relying on unpaid volunteers then instead of (?) a professional team as other plugins do.
Doxxing my website security setups is a catch 22 situation though, I’m afraid, and less secure than publishing email address. Can’t be sanitized really.
Anyway.@talldanwp
Suddenly today, without any action of mine, I see that Gutenberg 11.4.1 update was installed in my WP-admin. I’m concerned whether it won’t present any issues for me, because I need to update my homepage, and the last time I did that untested (using Classic Editor and then Gutenberg), I lost all the coding below the changes made. Yes, all coding became illegible, and I had to program it from scratch again. Major nuisance.I’m on WP 5.8.1 currently. Was 11.4.1 the update intended to solve also my problem, and how could it have been installed without any action of mine?
Do I you think I better roll back to Gutenberg 9.5.0 please, just to be safe from any poor coding that might be indise 11.4.1 that I can’t know about?
I’m understandably concerned, but need some Gutenberg version to work reliably with my plugin array…
Thank you.
@jdembowski All my replies make sense in getting the problem fixed – you may manually edit my address instead (one that I have no reason to hide at all).
I would find that helpful as I might have to turn to professional help if plugin authors are unable to fix it.
I ask reliably secure contact be established with Gutenberg people to account for my IT security.
Please don’t create a catch 22 by forcing me to share the lineup of plugins.
What you call topic about topics, shows clear similarities in the issue experienced by several other users.
I’m looking for a constructive resolution.@get_dave `Thanks David, weeks ago I’ve offered to share my plugin line up, only to be asked for the same with a lag as per above. Public forum isn’t conducive to IT security, so I had been very forthcoming in sharing my email for Gutenberg people to contact me, and test it.
Unfortunately due to several other users facing similar issues independently of the other plugins used, it’s with Gutenberg, and it’s not with Astra or the other suspects I had painstakingly troubleshooted (and Astra ruled out theme issues).
Your suggestion ignores a few important things I believe, just as subdomain or staging website wouldn’t have helped with paid plugins that are impossible to clone by definition – and it’s the fact that my site depends upon other plugins to work, and is on Astra. Not even EN language throughout my IT world would help. Running on, I can’t install all the plugins into local WP instals.
Besides, my hosting plan isn’t supportive of the suggested troubleshooting route likely, which is why I need your direct assistance in replicating it on your end.
Going this troubleshooting one by one logic before, didn’t pinpoint the problem after all.
I’ve suggested that I tell you my full lineup so that you can perform the required steps as the issue isn’t a matter of my content, but is hidden somewhere inside Gutenberg – one rollback works well to fix it, so it’s pretty clear.
I’m sincerely disappointed by going in the same circles, and for 6 weeks already. This shouldn’t be happening with a leading block editor – I would welcome being approached directly over email to solve this really.@talldanwp Fine, but I had no issue publishing mine, so you know how to reach me – fore example, you can use a masked email account, redirect, or throwaway account – if Gutenberg creators / bug troubleshooters can’t email me directly.
Now, that would be preferable, please.
Good day.@talldanwp Daniel, hopefully you’re aren’t the only person manning Gutenberg, the leading blocks editor.
It’s not an excuse that I might be the only one experiencing that – let me tell you that other free or paid plugin supports had been faster in taking care of bug reports.
This is taking 1 month – 1 month already…
Please bump it up in your hierarchy.
