Is this still planned for release soon?
I don’t know what happened but everything is working on my end now. Users are receiving comments in their inbox and html is preserved with
[comment_content]
. I didn’t update anything since your response. I can only say that the first comment notification the users successfully received was made on the Edit Post page from the dashboard and now all comments are arriving in the appropriate inbox. Not sure if that had anything to do with it, I can’t imagine how, but just wanted to mention it and let you know that[comment_content]
and notifications are working fine now. Thanks for your help.So I’ve been receiving the notifications in my spam folder but one other user claims to have not received any… Notification is set to send to Authors and Editors. My Editor account received it, his Author account apparently didn’t. I’m going to check with another Author and see if they’ve received any of these notifications in their spam folder.
I disabled the notification, re-enabled it, made a test comment and received the comment notification by email in my spam folder. My userbase is small so I can request them to mark these comment notifications as Not Spam until they’re e-mail services/clients learn to accept them into their inbox, but it may be a problem for others.
Instead of opening a new thread, I’d like to mention that it seems HTML formatting is still being stripped from [comment_content]. Line breaks are, at least.
Thanks voltronik for all your help. Love the plugin.
I made a test comment before posting this and just found it in my spam folder (notifications before the 1.1 update had been arriving in my inbox). Sorry for the clutter.
Thanks for the info. Instead of creating a new thread, I’d like to add:
There’s a thread entitled “Formatting removed from comment email notification” closed due to inactivity a few months ago. It said that the formatting was being removed from comments, but the original author never followed up to your responses…
I’ve noticed the same. When using “[comment_content]” in a notification, all paragraphs (line breaks) are removed. I haven’t had time to test other types of formatting, but I assume that bold and italicized text is outputted as plain text as well, probably hyperlinks too.
Is there an elegant way to preserve comment line breaks in notification emails? Perhaps another short tag that outputs the comment in rich text or HTML?
Sorry this is off-topic. I would’ve put it in the other thread if it wasn’t closed, but I didn’t think it warranted a new thread since the issue had already been brought up before.
Thanks.
I upgraded to the latest version of WP yesterday and receive the following when submitting new posts:
