Error pages when switching languages, slug don't change

Hello, I was wondering if you have any updates on this, been digging up and down to find a solution but can’t find anything.
Basically when a user clicks on the language, only the lang in the URL changes not the slug, the slug stays the same which results in a 404 error
If someone goes to https://www.example.com/en/english and clicks on the spanish flag they should go to https://www.example.com/es/espanol but rather they get https://www.example.com/es/english
