In reply to: Tutorial for moving to new server?I’ve asked Arvixe many times, but they have limited support unless you want to pay them…and I’m trying to learn how to do this myself. What surprises me is the lack of general tutorials on the subject.

In reply to: WowWay Newbie Theme Help? Thanks for the information. I’ve struggled with mastering the task of creating an image, getting the size right, and having whatever theme I’m using apply it as intended. I will consult with the developer on this. I am using Safari…by clearing site caches do you mean removing cookies from the preferences window?

In reply to: WowWay Newbie Theme Help? Thanks, but doesn’t some of this apply to any theme?

In reply to: Can't get Mamp to work. The step where I fail is in accessing wordpress. The instructions say that in the browser (firefox in my case) I should type into the url line “localhost:8888” or perhaps “localhost:8888/(name of folder where wordpress files are installed)” Doing this simply gets me a “Not Found” message, as in “The requested URL was not found on this sever.”

In reply to: General Help on TemplatesThanks again. I found a set of video tutorials on Youtube that are a big help. I’m already on chapter five: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XlQIyUPKdU&feature=related
I think the best lesson so far is to give up on making a template look like some pre-concieved design and instead to work with the template’s capabilities.

In reply to: General Help on TemplatesThanks. I don’t have time to become a wordpress expert. I use it on my blog and that works great. Log into admin, click Add New, and past in the text. But for my new sites I need the ability to size text and graphics. I suppose it’s back to iweb for me as that seems to be the only newbie-friendly page creation tool.
