Just a follow up so I can close this; I finally was able to update my php version on my server to 5.5 and I was able to activate the plugin. Thanks for helping me figure out the issue, codebunny! ??

Still occurs with the default theme. I’m using PHP 5.3.27 and WordPress 3.9.2. I’ve emailed you with the login details for an admin account.

Sorry, disregard this. After discovering this error popping up for others, I checked my plugins and found another plugin to be the culprit of this error.

Updated to resolved. I just settled for manipulating the CSS to pull this off. Works just the same!
