In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] Importing Album from Live Site to Local SiteI chose to do albums separately, just for the experience. Also actually I used the cPanel file manager and not FTP – by choice! But thankyou for the extra tip, and I can close this thread now and wish you well

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] Importing Album from Live Site to Local SiteThank you so much.. this worked fine. I will now repeat the exercise for additional folders. I’d like to keep this thread open awhile, but will come back to close it when I have finished. I hope that’s ok? And thanks again

In reply to: General Help to Upgrade a Legacy SiteI have found localwp somwhat counter-intuitive and difficult to use – but this I guess that is due to my skill and confidence levels!
So, I will pursue some other way of creating a clone site. If that fails, I will of course continue to create backups and then work on the live site.
Thank you Lisa for your response to my question, and for the advice on the order of accepting updates.
If you have other advice, I’d be happy to receive it – otherwise, wish me luck!
Thanks again

In reply to: Dasboard Broken After Pluhin UpdatesHi Roxanne,
Thank you so much for this help. I can now give you the good news that the upgrade worked fine. I used cPanel.
The Dashboard is now visible and working again!
Just to let you know also, in my voyage of discovery, I used cPanel to create a clone of the website, and expeirmented on this first, which helped me not to panic too much.
Thanks again – you have been patient, knwledgeable and very helpful

In reply to: Dasboard Broken After Pluhin UpdatesHi Roxanne,
Thankyou for pointing out that my version of WordPress needs an update: I was not aware of this. Sadly, because my Dashboard is broken, I am unable to use it to make the update needed. If there is some other way, can you let me know?
I have just now
1) Disabled all plugins
2) Made sure I am using the latest version of Theme Twenty Fifteen
3) Changed the theme to Twenty Twenty One.. but this did not fix the error. I changed the theme back to Twenty Fifteen.`
I’d like to update to the latest version, and hope to do this if you can help further.
Many thnaks for following all this!

I apologise again for that long list. I am ready to experiment now to change the theme and to explore further those error messages.

In reply to: Dasboard Broken After Pluhin UpdatesHi Roxanne
Before I do my Change of Theme test, I wonder if any of this is useful? I clicked on all the links to check for errors via the console. I used Incognito mode in Chrome, even though my Chrome is definitely up to date.
I am sorry if this is a long list: but actually some of the errors are repeated.
Do let me know if you prefer me just to do the test and risk breaking the site!
Many thanks

In reply to: Dasboard Broken After Pluhin UpdatesHi Roxanne,
Here’s a screenshot to show I deactivated the rogue Cookie Law plug-in.
https://snipboard.io/hpJ5ND.jpg
I did not deactivate all the plugins via the plugin directory as before.
I would like to test the theme issue and change the theme, and I will do so. But I am just a little concerned that I might break the site altogether.
Would you mind if I leave this for now, for a time next week when the need to update becomes critical? The site needs to be working for upcoming events.
Many thanks for your encoragement so far. It has been very useful.
