Same problem as Cavor is having.

Having a similar issue. After updating the plugin I get this error:

Same issue was reported here. If that is the theme you are currently using you can try to switch to another theme, delete the one with the issue and then reinstall it. Worked for me. Not sure why themes and plugins can’t be updated after the 4.4 upgrade.

I have the same issue. I don’t think it is a permission issue since I can uninstall and install themes and plugins, but if I try to update it fails with the above message. This is particularly problematic that when I tried to update a plugin it placed the site in maintenance mode and I had to use cpanel to rename the plugin folder just to get the site back up again.
