I experienced the same problem when I uploaded a collection of recipes to my blog. What ultimately resolved the problem for me was to save the php files as UTF-8, as opposed to the normal ANSI format in Notepad. Don’t know if this will help you, but as my problem was with displaying French spellings of words, with accented letter, and yours seems to be the same. It also helped resolve another problem of other characters being displayed in spaces between words.

I love the clean layout, the entire look and feel of the site, however, I at first thought it was a single column blog because the sidebar is pushed to the bottom right. Not sure if it appears that way because of the apportionment of space for the body and sidebar, or because I am viewing it in IE.

Figured it out.. I hand code in notepad, and figured out that if I saved the php as UTF-8, it would resolve the problem. It’s nice to figure something like this on ones own and not feel so utterly clueless. ??

Don’t quote me, as I’m new to this end of things, but I wonder if using the export option under the manage tab in the admin, might be what you’re lookng for? I know it allows you to dload an xml file of the rss from your blog. I wonder if this is (or a portion of it) could be pasted into an html doc on your main page to import into it, your most recent WP blog post? Just replying because it made me curious.. hoping that someone will confirm whether this is a possibility or not. Please don’t try it until you’re sure this won’t cause a problem.

The preformat tags might be a better choice. the   option doesn’t degrade well depending on which browser a sitee’s viewer is using. What might look inline on IE, won’t display the same way using firefox (I’m an oldie who remembers the days when a web site owner was supposed to care about cross browser compliance.)

It’s not working.. I wonder if it is because of how the code is written for there to be tabs at the top. I did check the wp_list_pages but couldn’t find anything that applies. I am good at figuring out problems w/html, and even editing cgi scripts.. but this is a new one for me. I’m going to try and post the code from the sidebar.php so anyone interested can look at it, and perhaps be able to tell me what might work.

Thanks again Samboll, it’s much appreciated. I’ve had WP installed for a bit over a month and have been toodling around looking at different themes until today. I’m so excited that I’ll finally have my blog finished and can start blogging.

It worked to remove the tabs from the top, thanks! However the sidebar module in the editor won’t allow me to add links like “About” “Archives”, etc.. to the sidebar. I can however add other headers. I appreciate the help thus far, is there any way I can add those headers manually?

That’s strange.. I installed wordpress not too long back, and never received a confirmation email or whatever I am supposed to get with the API code or password.

I’ve upgraded to 2.13 on the tenth, and have not been able to get my rss links to come up. I think there is a problem regarding this with the new version. I have even uninstalled and did a fresh install just to be sure that I hadn’t goofed with the upgrade.
