Hmm! Well this is odd. I’d already had a WordPress.com account under this email from years ago, left untouched for the better part of a decade. I’d wondered if it had been hijacked, but I just logged in and there it was, unchanged. Is it possible for someone to start two different WordPress.com accounts with the same email?
Now here’s the weird part: I had tried to use the Account Recovery form, filling out my email and the username supplied in the suspicious email. The form told me my email and username matched and that I should use the standard account recovery instead. But entering my email into that yielded a password recovery for my old, untouched account. Entering the username didn’t give me a password recovery email at all.
Thanks for the suggestions which prompted this exploration. I wonder if WordPress.com support can help me figure this out.

In reply to: Client cannot sign in but I can; also cannot reset passwordThanks for the reply! I’m including some screenshots here, including the attempt to log in, the attempt to change the password from the client’s end and the attempt to change the password from my end.
The client has since let me know that they were suddenly able to access the site again, but I’d still like to know the probable cause behind this if I can. This is a little too odd to chalk up to user error, in my opinion, and I expect the problem could return.
The website is gerrywall(dot)com.

In reply to: Menu burger has disappearedThanks for the reply James. I’m afraid I’m not going to get any support from CocoBasic as I downloaded this theme for free as part of a promotion. I was hoping there might be somewhere where people might be willing to help. Hopefully someone who reads this will have some idea of what might be going on.
Okay, so in case any other new users need help with this issue, I partly solved my problem.
I think an invisible section (maybe the divider I was using) was overlapping the icons. I increased the z-indexes on each. Then I removed the margin adjustments and put the icons in four connected icons boxes and adjusted with the sliders instead. The links now work, although I can’t figure out how on earth to align the boxes to the right of the page.
Oh well, at least this particular issue is resolved.
